I do remember accidentally pressing that button when I meant to press the pro trailer button instead.
Bingo.
Okay so here’s the next follow on question then. When/why would I ever want or need to press that button to lock the rear differential? What does it give me to do such a thing? Is it more of an off roading feature?
Just curious, what trim level is your PB? A Lariat or higher with available 4A transfer case setting?

If yes, personally I've found going to 4A, which can be used at any speed, has given me all the traction required towing and otherwise when on wet pavement, loose / gravel, and grass surfaces. I've not used the E-locker at all beyond a few experiments.

YMMV.

It’s a platinum. It does indeed have the 4a option.
Note, too, it's perfectly safe to use the 4A mode on any surface .... wet or dry pavement, anything else .... and at any speed.

With 4A there's never any risk of 'binding' like with the locked axle, so never any 'complaint' from the tires.

For me it's the 'go to' whenever a bit more traction or wet-pavement security is in order (often run in 4A in the rain), it's the F150 version of 'full-time all-wheel drive'. My E-locker only comes into play at very low speed on the very loosest of surfaces.

Again, YMMV.

I just bought a 2021 Powerboost and today I hooked up my travel trailer for the first time. I drove out to a large empty parking lot to setup the pro trailer backup assist feature. I added my trailer to the system, specified the length and width of the trailer, placed the stickers and then started the pro trailer setup. I performed the first step of driving forward and then when it told me to turn left or right, I made a sharp 90 degree turn to the right. The tires (not sure which ones though) started to squeal as if they were slipping. I thought maybe the break cable was too tight and was getting pulled. So I checked the break cable and it had plenty of slack. The tires squeal whether I turn left or right. I didn't notice this happening before I started the pro trailer backup assist setup. In other words, this didn't happen on my way out to the empty parking lot to begin the process. Is there some setting that I need to adjust? Is the truck trying to be too smart?
Checkt o see if your differential locker is on.

The two biggest misses on my XLT 302A are not having 4A ? and no memory seats.

As a final update to this thread, I just want to report that it was indeed the differential lock.

I’m not sure if it’s standard practice in this forum to mark the thread as solved. Thank you everyone for your help.

Glad it was something easy, and found. The e locker would be something you would use when you need more traction in a straight line. Stuck in snow, sand, mud, or trying not to get stuck in them.

On my 2024 F150 whenever I select the Tow/Haul mode it also automatically turns on the 4A. Nice feature.
