Just an FYI, it is my understanding that a simple $30 endoscope/borescope threaded up the oil pan drain can see the belt. So inspection is not difficult. I'll probably start looking at mine around the 200,000 mile mark. But remember, these are not known to fail.
The 2.7L also has a Kevlar belt. No failures.
The 5.0 Kevlar belt is not only improved from the early 2.7, but Ford now uses larger diameter pulleys, which greatly reduce the bending, load and stress on the belt. If one uses the proper oil and changes it regularly, there won't be belt failures...
This is my 5th F150. I love the 5.0 and find it a worthy successor to the previous V8's. And a whole bunch more pleasant on long trips than my 3.5L and 2.7L Ecoboost turbo V6's. Which sound and groan like a UPS truck on long highway hills.
Plenty of power and a nice flat torque curve. I have...
Mine is supposed to update tonight. We shall see. I'd really like a few minor engine tweaks. Including a more steady throttle response (no surging) and the auto-stop feature to be configurable in settings.
My 2024 Lariat drops to 12.0V during cruise. Jumps to 14.something during decel. Stays at 12.7 at the traffic light. Cycling the battery like this does stress it. Maybe it helps MPG a bit. Maybe.
Sounds exactly like my 2024 Lariat. I was amazed at how noisy this engine is compared to my old 2009 5.4L 3V. Which not only sounded perfect, refined and smooth, but gave me no trouble.
It is still common equipment at better repair shops.
It is my guess, having not seen the damage, that a competent shop would have no issue taking care of this. I'd also state that I'd have no issue owning a properly repaired truck. Once the diminished value issue was settled.
Just an FYI, the idea that a mildly bent frame can't be straightened is wildly in error.
How do you think they formed the steel in the first place? Yup, they bent, crunched, and folded it into shape. That's the beauty of steel, it's flipping strong and durable just as it is.
The frame is made...
I purchased a 2024 5.0 Lariat. Absolutely love it. I'd do it again without any reservations. Mine has the FX4 package, which is unnecessary. The truck has been flawless. It did take a few miles to break in, where it picked up some MPG and power. So if you purchase one, expect it to perform a bit...
The useless auto highbeams annoy me so much in my neighborhood, I simply move the headlight switch to manual and control them the old way, like God intended.
The auto system cycles high-low-high-low-high-low non stop, as I'm driving home at 3AM with nobody else in sight. Absolutely...
Do you have lane centering on? Or other nanny features? My 2024 F150 drives me nuts with the wildly variable steering feel. I'd prefer it have a constant feel that responds the same way every time. I've done my best to disable all the features and leave them off.
My 2024 Lariat with base B+O does the same thing. Rear speakers provide very little sound. Overall sound quality is poor. Despite trying different sources, and moving the settings, nothing makes this audio system sound acceptable. It is a junk system, with junk speakers, junk amp, junk software...
Thanks for the input, I was not aware of a difference. I don't know if there is a blue icon illuminated. I will have to look at the dash and at the settings again.
What was it doing? Lane centering on my 2024 is about useless. It tugs the wheel all over the place and does not stay centered. Same goes for BlueCruise, it rides to the right side of the lane too often. Sometimes touching the painted dashed lines and or coming close to the Semi truck, ugh.
