I removed the center speaker. Big improvement.
I agree with this. I upgraded all my speaker and it is night and day. But in the process...by mistake I unplugged the center...huge difference.

I would try it...its free ..and easy to do. Speaker cover prys off easily...a couple of 7mm bolts on the speaker...unplug and put back together. Try it and report back.

Oh another thing I did and it helps clean up the bass. I took the stock sub apart and lined inside with Resonix CLD (you could use any cld). Made a pretty good improvement. Probably not louder but much tighter....and seems louder.

Another cheaper option

any pics?

Shoot...I didnt snap any. I really thought it was going to be a waste of time.

Its pretty straight forward. I pulled the sub assy out. There are 4 Torx bit screws to remove the speaker. Cut the cld in to smaller pieces to fit on to the wall in the opening behind the speaker. Applied...using a roller where I could....not necessary...just make sure it is stuck good. Tip would be to heat the cld after pulling the backing off...makes it real sticky and more moldable.

Going back to the OP’s question, has anyone replaced the rear speakers while keeping the factory amp and found an improvement in back seat sound quality or are the rear speakers not getting full range sound?

I replaced my rear speakers after hearing big improvements in the replacing the fronts. I used Audiofrog gs62 coax. No hearable difference.

Next up is behind the seat sub from SGS ,amps and dsp.

Doing in stages so maybe a month or so before completion.

Which speakers did you use up front? I disconnected my center a few months after I got the truck and agree the difference is significant. I also feel like the bass has improved a bit throughout the system after break-in. Or maybe I'm just getting used to the sound...?

Stereo mode, up bass 2-3 notches, use lossless sound source. No complaints with the 8 speaker B&O system.

It is just right. If the speakers are not playing at all in stereo mode and the fade doesn't fix it, there may be a defect.

Do you have B&O Unleashed? The only dash speaker we have in non-unleashed is the center.

I hate starting new threads but I don't see anything that specifically address the issues with the non-unleashed B&O system. There are threads about adding subs, ect, but that's not my issue.

Now I'm going off the assumption that my system isn't defective, but when the fade and balance are set evenly to the center of the truck, I hear NOTHING from the rear speakers. All the sound seems like it is in front of me. When I set the fade to 100 percent rear speakers, the sound is almost what I would call muffled. Not clear and nowhere near the level of the fronts. If you start to fade up to the front and bring the front speakers online, you have no volume at all. It's pretty quiet even cranked to 30 not to mention that the quality is pretty bad because of the rear speakers.

So my questions are for you current owners and audio folks.

1. Are you experiencing the same situation as me?
2. What's a solution that is somewhat cost effective? Not looking to drop a thousand dollars into a sound system I already paid to be better than stock.
3. Do you think just changing out the rear speakers would achieve a better balance or is it a power to the rear speakers issue? Or something deeper?

To be clear I'm not looking for more bass or even more volume than what is provided by the front speakers. I'm just looking for balance. I just want to sound to be even in the cabin vs what I have now which is all the sound is in front of me. It's a shame that my 2013 F150 Sony system was 100 times better than what I have now, 8 years later.

Appreciate any suggestions.
Finally, somebody else with this opinion. I actually really enjoyed the Sony Premium system in my '17. Thought it sounded pretty good, had OK bass, and could hang with some higher volume levels.

The B&O in my '24 sucks. Super unimpressed with it. I can't seem to get it where I like it either. I will get song A sounding good, and then song B will come on and suddenly it sounds too harsh.

I was the same way. I could get songs sounded good but a different genre would sound bad in the process. Lossless helps. Also after 2.5 years I’ve just gotten used to it.

Coming from a 19 with the B&O, my 25 with the 8 speaker b&o is really disappointing.

The bass drum is barely there for most tracks, mostly only going to the door speakers. Then it’s boomy and annoying with bass guitar from the odd oval sub.

I’m also finding some tracks sound great and others pathetic all from the same source. There’s a frequency gap that the sub in the first gen was covering that is just lost in the latest one.

The ported box with the 8” in the 19 was solid. Overall that system was really balanced for a factory setup.

I was wondering if the 1st gen B&O sub could replace this new junk but the first gen was a dual voice coil and the new is single.

At this point I’m not sure what I’ll do. Likely just get used to it as I can’t stomach spending almost thousands on a stereo upgrade for a 70k truck. Thanks Ford for another decision made to save money that leaves the customer unhappy.

My 2024 Lariat with base B+O does the same thing. Rear speakers provide very little sound. Overall sound quality is poor. Despite trying different sources, and moving the settings, nothing makes this audio system sound acceptable. It is a junk system, with junk speakers, junk amp, junk software.

I hold out some hope that a software update will allow the system to provide more power to the rear.
