Trouble with stake pocket tie down hook install

Hello folks - I need some help. I ordered the attached. However on my f150 2024 XLT the two slots on the tailgate where this is supposed to go in have no trim to be removed. They just have a hinged opening which opens down when pressed. Any ideas how to do this? Part number is VFL3Z99000A64D

That looks like a Bull Ring intended for installation in the bed-rail stake pockets, not for installation in the tailgate hook-pockets with the hinged cover .

The hinged parts on tail gate are not for tie downs. They are part of the work surface, for clamps. The tie downs go on the corner of the bed next to tail gate.

After removing the snap-in OE cover it goes in the bed rail stake pocket as shown here:

If you have a tonneau its rails may cover the stake pocket

Neither Bull Ring, nor anyone else AFAIK, makes a ring to go in the tailgate.

Oh I see. Unfortunately I can't access that as the Tonneau cover is covering it.

The tail gate does have tie down hooks when opened. One on each side

I'm guessing that these are not waterproof. Right?

I'm trying to figure out why Anonymous1977 cannot use these under his tonneau cover.

I would guess because it would cover them. Guessing that’s why he wanted for tailgate. Mine fit tight. Sure just as water proof as the thin plastic cover that was there.
