Hello all - I have an f150 XLT 2024 powerboost model that I got last year. I have a few questions. Can someone help.

1. The mileage is around 9400. I am waiting for 10000 miles for the first oil change service. Since the truck is new I am planning to take it to a Ford dealer instead of my regular mechanic. Is there anything to be aware of?

2. I received a recall notice asking for a fix to be done at dealership. I lost the notice. Is there anyway to schedule this along with #1 above given that I don't have the notice?

3. Ford sent me a letter saying some of their marketing material was wrong and has given me $785 to be used on accessory purchase. What accessories would you recommend I get and can I schedule it along with #1? I have always wanted those huge 4 lights that go on top of the truck. No idea what they are called but looking for recommendations.

4. I need to install a dashcam. However I am not getting a good YouTube video that lets me hide the wires and route them. There were two I saw with one video showing the guy routing it the port under the hand rest. However on seeing the comments I see people saying the parking mode won't work. Another video got it to the fuse box but it looked too complicated including soldering to the fuse box. Are there any easier installs that can hide the wires?

5. I don't have a trailer but want to be positioned in case I need to tow something. What is it that needs to be installed in order to do this?

6. Now that one year is up I am getting a lot of Ford notifications saying my connected services will be turned off, my map updates will be turned off, my security alerts will be turned off, my Ford blue cruise has already been turned off. I do not want to pay for any of these things. Is it ok to not renew?

Thank you for your help.

The dealership will have all recall info. No notice needed to bring. Personally I go 5000 miles on oil changes, you will find all sorts of answers and opinions on that subject. Oil is cheap motors are not.
Hmmm....I was just following the documented guidelines. Am I screwed that I did not do at 5000 miles?

As @Ricksc stated 5K oil changes are my go too. The 10K oil change interval is just asking for long term reliability issues especially with modern turbocharged engines. So I stick to full synthetic and change at 5K. Missing one 5K interval is not the end of the world.

For the dash cam If yours has the active dimming rear view mirror then this is the power adapter you want
https://dongar.tech/products/16pin-ford-f150

It plugs inline with the mirror's power harness and provides accessory hot 12v for any dash cam. I have used them for years and no issues. Installs in seconds and a couple zip-ties later your dash cam is installed and working perfectly. At most a 5 minuet job. Oh make sure you can disable the startup sounds on what ever dash cam you get and tuck it up in front of the mirror so it's mostly out of sight. I had issues with the dealer service techs unplugging mine when it'd take my trucks in for service. Since getting a smaller one and making it silent they have not touched it so I can review the footage to see what all they did with it when it was in. the shop.

For the accessory purchase, that's up to you. Peruse the Ford site and find something you want like step rails or bed cover if you don't have them for example.

For the recall work, find a dealer service center/advisor you trust and give them a call to schedule it. Depending on the recall it may take a d couple days to a week or more to complete. Just ask them when you take it in if they can provide a loaner/rental if it's going to be more than a few days. Most dealers will cover this and put you on their list if needed.

The place performing oil change is not as important as long as they do it right and use the correct oil type. I take mine to either the dealer's Quick Lane service or to a place called Take 5 and bring my own filter. Take 5 uses a suction pump through the dipstick tube to drain the old oil out so they don't remove the drain plug anymore. Just be sure to keep the receipts for any place you take it outside the dealer in the event there's ever an issue and Ford wants to see all the service history.

I need to check if my f150 has a powered rear view mirror. Also what do I do for the rear dash cam?

If it dims at night when someone is behind you it's powered. Otherwise look at the back of it for the harness plug.

For the rear you can tuck the wire up in the edge of the headliner at the back glass to the C-pillar. You should be able to unclip the top portions of the C and B pillars just enough to feed the wire up along the edge of headliner. You'll need to pull the A-pillar trim off at the top to snake the cable around the corner there and along the front edge of the headliner then down to the camera. Any excess cable can be ziptied and tucked up out of the way. Alternatively you can snake the line down the C-pillar and under the door sill plates using a fish tape line to the front of the truck then up the A-piller to the headliner and to the camera.

Welcome! I have a 2024 Powerboost as well and absolutely love it.

If you plan to keep your truck for several years, one suggestion you might consider is an extended warranty. There is a lot of tech in these trucks that could be very costly to repair once you get outside the basic 3-year/36,000 mile coverage. If you decide to get one, I would suggest sticking with the genuine Ford product, which, as you may already know, is called Ford Protect. Many people on the forum have purchased one thru Granger Ford in Iowa, including me. When I got mine, they had the best price for the 10-year/125,000 mile coverage. Here is the link for the Granger web site if you are interested.

I agree with the 5,000 mile interval on the oil changes, but you should not have any issues with your current state. Just go every 5,000 going forward.

Also, getting the Dongar power adapter for the dashcam is a good idea. There are several options on Amazon available, as well as the link provided by Bret above.

Not knowing what accessories you already have, a couple suggestions I would make would be the rear wheel well liners and a rubber bed mat. The liners give the truck a clean look, and the rubber bed mat helps keep things from sliding around too much.

I already have the Ford ESP. Regarding the connectors on Amazon, can they also be used for the dash cam? Since you have the same truck can you confirm if your rear view mirrors are powered? I will look into the other accessories.

I am adding some splash guards. If I add the rear wheel well liners, can I still add or do I still need the splash guards?

See below in red.

Is there anything to be aware of? Your oil should be changed every 5k miles regardless of what Ford says unless you don't plan to keep the truck long term.

2. I received a recall notice asking for a fix to be done at dealership. I lost the notice. Is there anyway to schedule this along with #1 above given that I don't have the notice? Just call the dealer and they may be able to assist you. You can call Ford assistance from the app too.

Rear wheel well liners. Floor mats. Storage solutions for the back seat by Ford.

Another video got it to the fuse box but it looked too complicated including soldering to the fuse box. Are there any easier installs that can hide the wires? Check out the vendor page on this forum. They have many solutions for this.

5. I don't have a trailer but want to be positioned in case I need to tow something. What is it that needs to be installed in order to do this? You truck should already be equipped with the hitch and wiring harness. You just need the appropriate receiver with correct ball for your trailer. You can get these anywhere including Home Depot, AutoParts stores, and many other similar places.

6. Now that one year is up I am getting a lot of Ford notifications saying my connected services will be turned off, my map updates will be turned off, my security alerts will be turned off, my Ford blue cruise has already been turned off. I do not want to pay for any of these things. Is it ok to not renew?
I didn’t renew and not much has changed for me. I dont care about the navigation, don’t have blue cruise, and don’t need notifications as I can check in the app anyway. Apple car play should still work and all the other essential features most people use including sync.
