My truck won't fit in my garage, so I park it in the driveway.
That means that anyone breaking in would also have access to the remote garage door opener attached to the sun visor and have access to my house.
My other car (a Subaru) has Homelink built in, a button or 3 mounted near the sunglasses holder that can be programmed to talk to my garage door opened but will only operate when the car is turned on, so thieves would be out of luck unless they hot wire the car.

Is anyone aware of a solution/retrofit that would add Homelink (or similar) to my truck with a somewhat built-in look? I heard (but haven't looked for) that there are vanity mirrors with Homelink built in, but my vanity mirror doesn't have a light, so I assume no power.

OK, looks like I should have done a little more searching on this forum as there are a couple of similar threads

I just did the Kia Hyundai mirror swap within the last few weeks.

I ordered part number: S8F62-AU000 and it came with a wiring harness that you can manually wire in. The mount is the exact same as the F150.

Or in my case I ordered a mirror harness from Bobs mirrors that adapted the Kia wiring to Ford and just plugged right in.

I did the replace the visor and run power to the Homelink. Ordered the visor and power plug from Ford. Ran power from the passenger side kick panel fuel box with an Add A Circuit from Amazon. I used a switched cct in the fuse block. I didn't like have 2 3 button remotes hanging off my visor in a truck loaded with tech....plus a little...OK...alot of OCD too...lol

That sounds like the perfect solution!

I find that part number as a Hyundai mirror (same as Kia I guess).

Do you have the reference to the Bob's mirror's harness you ordered?

Yes Hyundai, my apologies.

Here was the information Bob gave me:

FYI…couple things to note: if your truck has the driver's side exterior dimming mirror, you will lose that feature, as the Homelink mirror you purchased doesn't have the ability to control the dimming function of exterior mirrors. And, because there is no constant hot wire present in your truck’s mirror connector, the Homelink buttons will only operate with the ignition on.

Other than that, we can custom make a harness for you. Here’s what you can do…purchase the harness here: https://www.bobsmirrors.com/product.asp?itemid=1650

Then for the drop downs, select/do the following:

1. Male to Female

2. Four wires

3. Pick the length of the harness (take into account that your mirror already has a decent length of cable coming out of it, and although the shortest option in the listing is 6”, we can go down to about 4” if need be)

4. In the freeform text box field copy/paste the following: “5 pin female Hyundai/Kia to 16 pin male Ford harness”.

I used bobs mirror as well. Except mine doesn’t have a compass built in. Which is def not a problem.

On 21-23 models fuse 2 is switched and 4 is constant.

How did you hide the extra harness, tied being the mirror? Did you push it through the panel for a cleaner look?
