Folding Shifter Delete & Rotary Knob Swap

Well... in the '24, the Expy shifter "works" as-in the truck operated... but there's all these warnings.
But it functioned. Any idea about how to use it and get rid of the warnings?

Did you disconnect with the battery unplugged? I saw some of the Lightning guys saying if done without disconnecting the battery it threw codes. Then a restart cleared it all.

Mine is coming from the Etsy seller who made one of the first. He just put pictures up of the prototype for the larger shifter!

I am expecting mine sometime later this week or early next week, but I also was a very very early order to get in. I know he is backed up a bit from the mass amount of orders coming in. Also had some storm damage that set him back a little more.

Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered one. Now I have to get off my butt and order the wiring harness for the lighted cup holders and media light. I will do everything at the same time.

I've had the cup holders sitting in the box for a couple of years now.

No one knows for sure. We are all experimenting here, no one has found one that works in the 2024-2025 yet.

Oh... so you're saying to disconnect the battery... plug in the Expy shifter... reconnect battery... then try.
I can do that. Because I had the battery connected for everything.

So I went in as well and tested the shifter out. Functions fully but get all the warning messages as well. I have an escape shifter as well and it did the same thing. So if someone figures out how to modify with forscan to get this working fully that’d be amazing! I did swap with battery disconnected and restarted with the shifter plugged in. If someone had a shifter that was proven to be from a 24/25 expedition and tries on a 24/25 f150 that’d be helpful to see if there is something internally that changed.

I didn’t realize the plug was on the left side so I just went in a tried. Didn’t do anything different than yours

Found a picture of the 25 Expedition shifter. They moved it from the console to the dash. No clue the part number but appears very different to the 24 and older.

The Etsy prototype looks really good! I ordered last week sometime. Not in a hurry. I would love to see one printed with the knob all the way forward. I would buy it also for comparison.

I thank Ajzride and others that have contributed to this discussion.
Just now purchased a new rotary shit knob from the link provided by Ajzride, from Sunrise Ford.
Not much more buying new rather than used.
I very well might convert to the rotary dial. I don't have an issue using this style for controlling gear selection.
But when Ajzride made the suggestion of having the rotary style as an emergency backup if the lever shifter fails, well that made perfect sense to me.
Being it is quick and easy to access the wiring to make an emergency work around rather than being stranded the cost involved is minor.

The rear location shifter files are ready. I'm sending them to the lightning creator to post on his thingiverse page, but if you are in a hurry send me a DM with your email address.

I raised the shifter up as high as it could go without interfering with the fold down work surface.

I'm massaging the taper on the front location pieces now, they should be ready in a day or two.

I realized mine actually is the 22-24 version.

There are people doing a column to console shifter swap that requires a tron? relearn from a dealership in order to get it to work properly. I wonder if that’s the same here? Not sure what is all involved in that.

I just checked the 2021 Workshop manual, and the GSM is on the Canbus (VE474), so it is possible TRON initialization might have to take place if the GSM is replaced.

Any idea how one would go about testing this? Is dealership required?
