Has anybody else here had their dealership make an extremely tempting offer to purchase your truck?

A couple days ago I dropped my truck off for some maintenance work. A couple hours after that I get a call from what I thought would have been the service department. It was actually the sales manager. They told me how they don't have enough newer used trucks and that they have quite a bit of new inventory. He continued and said they could definitely pay off my truck with some cash to spare.
Honestly at first I kind of laughed at him...like you have to be kidding me right!? I just purchased that truck in June of 24.

Anyways when I went to pick the truck up they had an offer sitting on the table for me. They would pay off the entire loan from Ford credit and the additional money would go towards a down payment for a new truck.

They called me again yesterday and I once again told them sorry I'm not interested and I just dumped a bunch of money in that truck. I figured if I told them I wanted a super duty for one hell of a price they would leave me alone. Nope. Without even having to use an x plan they already had the price considerably lower than MSRP. Honestly if I didn't just dump a bunch of money into my truck I would be in a Lariat Super Duty right now.

I told the sales manager you want my keypad right? ?????????

So what the hell is going on? Anybody know?

this is why they were offering you something in the first place. they wouldn’t give a damn about bone stock vehicles.
I find that interesting because to some I "ruined" the vehicle. They made a big deal out of my auto power fold and telescoping tow mirrors with auto dimming. And with all that being said I've always been told that I'm doing the modifications for myself not for resale.

My take is people wanting newer trucks but not the higher price. Mine is a 21 XLT 302A with 53,000km... to replace it on Ford's P&B...over $76k Cdn and still missing options.

I have a 2022 Lariat PB 4x4 502A loaded 6k miles and I cannot even get this set up anymore. I have to get a KR to even get close to the options I have. With Granger and incentives, I paid $59,800 for a $73k MSRP truck after 2 or 3 price increases from order date 1/28/2022. They couldn't offer me enough to part with this creampuff. But who knows. :)

My buddy's 22' Lariat had more options than my 23' Lariat that I traded in after all the issues. It pissed me off back then.

here in metro Detroit it's extremely rare to have the selection of Super Duties they currently do on the lot. Also, normally once you ask for one the dealership has the upper hand. I don't want everything to fall apart but I'm glad things are getting back to normal.

Good to see 0% financing coming back.

I regularly get junk mail from my dealer offering to buy my truck (they finally stopped texting me after a firm request that they stop).

None of these solicitations are "tempting" ? to me in the least, they're easy to ignore and toss upon reading the first line. I can't replace my much loved unicorn 2022 Lariat SuperCab at any price. We're in it for the long-haul. (y):)

I haven't received any mailings. They had my truck in service. They offered to pay off completely and throw money towards a new truck.... They were selling a Lariat super duty for one hell of a price. That's why I posted this .... There has to be a valid reason .. because this was no scam. This is a shift in the market. The only thing I didn't like is the interest rates. Reality is I don't need a bigger truck, but if I needed it this would be the time to do it.

I am in for the long haul as well. I really like the mods I have done and this is my favorite F-150 I have owned to date. Towing with my upgraded suspension is a game changer. I'll get leather seats at some point.

All brands of 3/4 and above around here move very fast except...
The higher trims
Plat, king ranch.
We have lots of cow and other farms
Them guys go through trucks fast
But.... non trucks are simply not moving around here with our 6 dealers in the 50 or so mile radius
Used vehicles are pretty thin

Just to be clear, I didn't mean to imply that such offers are scams.
It's all good. I do.. lol... I never would have entertained it if it came in the mail. I mean I definitely think when they send you an offer like that they have incentives to give you the most for your vehicle, but they still have to make money. They are a business. Which I understand.

Must be fewer used late-model trucks available. Even Carvana offered me basically what I paid for my truck a year ago. Lots of good deals on new 24's but no good financing yet- maybe in April.

I’m not much of a trader inner. I’ll keep my 2023 and pass it down as a company work truck when I buy the next truck, and so on. The only way out from under me is the junkyard. If I buy it, it will be with me until the end of its useful life :)
