So I buy a brand new Lightning with a battery you can swap anywhere. My battery is new. I go to a station where they swap them and find out the battery they put in is junk. Is it me buying another brand new battery, do I pay for the recycling of the old battery or how do you guys all for swapping batteries envision that ?
That's exactly why I think it'll end up being some third party thing, and you'll likely just pay for a "battery as a service" subscription of sorts if you want to use it. You'd never actually own the battery and would just be using the ones provided by the service. Possibly even buying a car without one and just using their batteries from the get-go. If you leave the service, you need to find a battery to replace it.

Nio already makes battery swappable cars.

It took a good 3 days I think when I first put mine in there. I think it's just the original poster who maintains it all, so it's whenever they have time.
I agree, not fair at all, but I feel extremely fortunate to have mine on the way so soon. I would really hope Ford will do something for people who waited over 4 months, doubling their FordPass points, something like that, at least show some sort of appreciation for the wait.
I have decided Ford customers are stupid, yes that includes me. I have been saying for months that this is what Ford was going to do. A bad situation with chips has now created a frenzy. Ford is going to screw those of us that ordered trucks in late December , January and February. Dealers are now receiving inventory which they are selling for 5K to 10K OVER MSRP. Ford wants to keep up this frenzy for as long as possible. By pushing the staged trucks with no chip off as long as possible there are many customers who will cancel their order and pay significantly more for a truck now. Customer ordered Trucks ordered late march are arriving at dealers now. My truck was ordered 1/15/2021. It has been due 4/17/21 since ordered. Today the delivery date revised to 10/31/2021.
I called my dealer and asked them to order another truck today matching my specs. They agreed it was probably the best. I am not sure I want a truck that sat in a Detroit parking lot for 6 months.

Think about how people exchange Propane tanks.

Your is empty, you take it in and exchange it for a full one and pay a fee.
I'm picture basically the same concept.

Sorry, have to disagree. There is no significant degradation of the propane tank over the course of its life. With ANY rechargeable batteries, there is.

It's like your iPhone battery, when its new you get 2-3 days from a charge... 3 years later you are charging twice a day. BUT the big difference is that you are in control of the charging regime at home, you see the continuing depreciation of charge and account for it in your use. Then, when you finally do change it out you get a NEW battery.

With the swap-shop scenario, one would assume you would pay a flat fee for a "recharged swap". I cant imagine a business case where they could quantify, measure and charge you for 'restored ion potential', i.e. charging you a different tariff for a semi consumed, older battery.

Imagine how you would feel getting 300 miles from your fresh factory battery, then pull into one of these swap-shops, getting a ragged out one which only gives you 100 miles on the second "charge". Oh and by the way, you are in the middle of the mountains away from anywhere cause you were banking on getting the same 300 miles as you got on the first charge.

In this scenario, me in my ICE F150, I sheepishly call AAA and they come by with a can of gas, and I'm on my way bruised ego and all.

EV has a shit-ton of logistics to work out. Truly a better idea for containing carbon emissions, but not entirely conducive to our way of life yet.

Tracker here and on Ford.com didn't update after my truck showed built. My ETA went from 5/28 to 6/6. I looked several times everyday and Palsapp showed dispatched on the 5/24 and then delivered on 5/25. Went to both trackers and they showed delivered too. Went to dealership and there it was in the back the truck driver had a blowout and the tread hit my truck. A Week to get the parts; dr/s headlight glass, lower air dam, paint the bumper. Another week or so to get my Platinum.

My estimated delivery date just changed from 5/27/21 (tomorrow!) to 8/28/21. Talk about getting blue balled! That will equate to almost 7 months since my order date. Not a happy camper.:mad::mad: At this rate, the all new 2022 Tundra might be released and I may be tempted to cancel my F150 order.
So, what your telling us is that Toyota Tundras are going to get more semiconductor chips than Ford and the other Car/Truck Manufacturers?

??????

It’s all done manually, it’s not a “live” list so to speak, so unless people put in a request to have their info updated, it will be stale data. Hence so many of them looking incomplete.
They do indeed, normal production is 3 shifts per day, 7 days per week, if they are open, they'll be open 7 days, but they do have some weeks coming up that are down to 2 or 1 shifts
Just entered my info on the tracker, thanks. Ordered my Lariat 501A in Anti matter Blue on 1/14/2021, today my tracking site updated from 8/7/2021 to an ETA of 8/28/2021. I called Customer Service today and they said they are not offering any concessions such as an extended warranty for those of us who are waiting "patiently".

Possibly. Toyota may very well have a different supply chain for chips than Ford, depending on the type of chips that are required. Within a span of 24 hours, my status changed from delivery tomorrow to 8/28 and then to 10/30. That is absolute fail on Ford's communication.

Yeah i'm not feeling it. I would like my battery to be mine and not get stuck on the side of the road cause on "my" battery is did 400 miles and the replacement 1 gave me 200.

My Truck has shown a in production since April 1st. Today the ETA End Date posted as 10/31/2021.
Has anyone else had that radical change in their tracking data ? Hard to get your head around a truck that has in production in April being now shown as finishing production at the end of October !!

Yes, mine updated to EtA 10/31/2021 yesterday as well. Ordered on 1/14/21. No communication from my dealer as to what's going on. I'm learning more from reading these threads then I am from my own Ford Dealer, they are clueless. I asked him why it updated to 10/31 yesterday and all I've heard is crickets. Serious case of the antimatter blue balls.

The same thing happened to mine!!! Order placed by late February. Got the VIN from Ford by March 10, was told production done by April 29, and ETA delivered date was May 27. Not sure why now they just changed it a couple of days ago to be 10/31/2021 and my dealer won't be able to answer any of my questions. This is getting ridiculous.
