I have a 2021 f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost with 88,000 miles. I went out to start it this morning and it started and dies immediately. Has anyone else experienced this? I replaced the battery thinking that might be the problem. Still the same. The temp this morning was 22 degrees. Fuel level is 100%. Filled it with fuel last night at a station I get a lot of fuel from with high traffic. Temp yesterday was 33 for a high. Could something have frozen and not be allowing fuel? Or could the alternator be bad and system is automatically shutting it down? What is y’all’s thoughts?

At 22F, you shouldn't have any issues with the fuel system unless you have a severely cracked hose or coupling, which I doubt. Otherwise, you would be getting fuel-related warnings on your dash (prior to).

You need to hook up a DIAG and read codes, my guy.

I will need to try and get ahold of a code reader. It doesn’t show any check engine lights or warnings on the dash.

Put some methol hydrate in the gas tank...5/6 Oz will do....it will clear any frozen fuel line.

I hope not either. I wonder if the battery monitor system needs reset after replacing the battery. Maybe that is shutting it down. Because even with a new battery it says 12 volt system low. I guess I misspoke when I said it didn’t have any warnings on the dash it does say that. I’m leaving it park for 8 hours like it says in the owners manual and see if that resets that.

Thanks for checking. I will try it again tonight and also get a hold of a scanner tomorrow if it doesn’t work. I will report back here what turns up.

Remote start?

If so, that's been reported. Tendency to be vehicles not driven often, in deep cold. I was away for a few days and mine on remote start would start then shut down.

Butt in seat start low revs initially then it got its act together. My suspicion is that the cold steals battery power. Because I've had no problems starting it on a daily since then.

The first time I started was with remote start. Then I went out and tried it in the vehicle without remote start. Same thing. I drive it every day, I have a 25 mile each way commute to work.

How does it die? Sputter, try to run and shit down? Turn over and fire then cut off, or does it start and shut down like you turn the key off?

I know I don't know modern trucks so well, but a bad battery isn't going to start your truck if it's bad.

It starts then the rpm goes up to about 1,000 like it normally does on cold start. Then as fast as the rpm goes up it goes back to 0. No sputtering just shuts off like you turned off the key.

Sounds like a computer deal to me. Your battery isn't the problem and if it wasn't getting fuel it would sputter or not start.
