Transmission Whine or Something Else?

I purchased this 2022 F150 with the 5.0 engine and 10R80 transmission. I didn’t notice this noise until I got it home unfortunately. I contacted my dealership and they claim it’s a normal noise in these trucks. Is anyone else having this issue and is there a fix for it ? See attached video. If you also have this noise please upload a video of it for me to compare. Thank you…

I would get or download a sound meter and try to pinpoint where the sound is coming from.

It’s more than likely the straight cut gears in the 10r80 transmission auxiliary pump. Especially when hot they are noisy like most straight cut gears. A lot of people notice this… I have it as well.

It is really annoying. Will replacing the aux pump fix it?

Nope. They all tend to do that when hot. It’s a dumb design to use straight cut gears. There are several threads on this issue if you want to see or learn more. If you roll down the window you may hear it move higher in pitch with throttle.

Also have a 22 5.0, sounds identical to mine. I'll take a video later to post. I was very concerned about this too because this is my first 10 speed from Ford. However, there are so many threads about this and explanations due to the straight cut gears in the fluid pump.

Unfortunately it is just a normal "feature" of these trucks, nothing you can really do to fix it. A friend just purchased a 2025 5.0 and his whines louder than mine. It's just the way it goes with the 10R80. ?‍

3.5 litre V6 hybrid ecoboost. PB stands for PowerBoost. The Hybrid V6 is PowerBoost and non-hybrid is EcoBoost
