I am researching the practicality of installing an Anti-Theft Kill Switch on my 2022 Powerboost. Does anyone here have any experience doing this? Or ideas?

on a few of my last trucks, i used a switch to interrupt the fuel pump ON
the 21 super duty i interrupted ground signal on the press to start button, it wont do diddly with that ground switched to no ground

key is placing switch in a NOT easy to see place or easy to find, but is easy for you to get to.
but again time is your friend, if a thief has to take longer to find stuff, they will leave.
but a wrecker truck dont matter. there are tons of discussions on this on all the truck sites.

on my 02 super duty it was under dash by passenger left leg, if you stuck you fingers under, there were a few bolts and a small hole you could just reach to trip the switch, it turned off fuel pump

There was an article about older tow truck thefts growing in frequency because they are easier to steal and inturn used to steal other cars and trucks can't win for losing ?

I knew a guy who had the fuel pump fuse wired to the cruise control button via a relay. Was pretty smart since who would ever think to press the cruise control button to start the truck. Another buddy put a contact switch to the center seat belt so the truck would only start if the center lap belt was inserted.

Ah simpler times.. Now a days you look at the trucks wrong and 1/2 the electronics quit working.

Do you happen to recall starter button wire color you interrupted on your ‘21 Super Duty. I would like to do this. My ‘22.

My cutlass I just have a simple rocker switch to the ignition coil. Works like a charm.

I wouldn’t know where to start with the 2021 rats nest of wires lol

it was the GROUND wire IIRC. to the push button, i believe there was only 3 wires and the ground sort of stuck out, its attached to the dash metal framing

This is a smart idea. Does the kill switch negate the cruise control button from performing its actual function?

Did anyone figure this out? I looked behind the start-stop switch today and it has 6 or so wires. I tried the ground and other wires but the truck started up even with most of them cut.

Anything else I can cut and place a switch between?

There is another option. You can purchase a handscrewed connector with a fuse bypass. When you remove the handscrew the current path goes thru a fuse, usually 5 amps. If you try to start the truck all seems well until the starter is engaged, then the fuse blows and the truck goes dead.

We have some kind of system on our ambulances that plugs into the OBD2 plug. Then you install a push button. You press the button and it allows you to take the keys out. Then if you hit the brake or try to put it in gear it kills the engine. Not sure what it’s called though.

I’ve got the exact same truck and question. Did you ever figure out a solution? My thought is that being a powerboost you wouldn’t want to stop fuel flow if using the generator mode so a kill switch that prevents “driving” would be better than one that stops fuel flow or starting. Maybe a transmission kill switch?

2 more thoughts:

1) I have the center console gearshifter that folds down. Maybe another solution is a toggle switch on the gearshifter fold down button, to keep it from coming back up.

2) Toggle switch on the gearshifter lock solenoid, the one released by the button you have to grab and grip to shift out of Park.
