Just an idea. Can you mention some kind of beta testing on a dash camera that interfaces with the stock cameras on the truck? Say you signed an NDA and can't discuss what company it is but the general idea behind it is just a Tesla like dash cam system.
The cameras are not on the canbus.

I sort of started watching videos on the Comma 3x way back when Ajzride posted his first video on this, but then never really took action toward getting the Comma 3x, but finally ordered one. Nice to see they now offer a specific harness for the F150. If memory serves, the cost to get the Comma 3x and harness, ran $1500. I was able to pick both up for under a $grand. Nice the prices came down (or else my memory sucks).

I am sure there have been a lot of updates on software and maybe other issues since the first video was released. I don't mind reading through all the posts, but wonder if doing so might be more confusing than if someone can suggest a more recent place to begin my learning so as not to let old news cloud or complicate the learning process. If best to just start at the beginning, that is what I'll do, but if maybe better to skip some of that which has become old and replaced by new data/info/etc., maybe someone can suggest where I would be best to begin?

TLDR:

this thread exists because we made a custom fork (software release) of OpenPilot called BluePilot which fixes a lot of ford specific quirks.

read the first 10 posts or so of this thread for a lot of background on the software side of things. When you get ready to install ask for the current URL. We are hoping to get a new version out by early next week.

Video below goes through the install process:

Thank you very much. This video doesn't mention the OBDII port, but as I recall, earlier videos on the install do mention attaching a piece onto the OBDII and connecting a CAT5 from there to the harness. Has the hardware progressed so that nothing needs to attach to the OBDII anymore?

So, way back when, SunnyPilot was the preferred software to download, so if I'm understanding correctly, BluePilot will be the only software I'll be wanting? Once again thank you...really looking forward to starting to use this. I already drive almost exclusively using the CO-PILOT360 ASSIST 2.0 (coupled with a 1.5 lb weight attached to the steering wheel to defeat the "keep hands on the wheel), which is a pain in the butt, but better than having to nudge the wheel every 12 or so seconds. I won't miss that weight coming off.

Did the weight on the wheel for a while (aka "Ghetto BlueCruise) but made the jump to Comma 3x with BluePilot last year and haven't looked back.

OBD2 is optional. The newer cables from Comma don't have a Cat5 on the ODB2 either, they have. 4-pin ATX connector. You only need it to keep the device powered between drivers. If you are okay waiting for it to boot, you can skip the ODB2 connector.

Here is the full install video, but it has a few mistakes early in the video, so watch the whole thing.

possible but unlikely. The encryption is required by European laws, and it also reduces theft significantly. 2023 Superduty had it before we got the first OpenPilot up and running on a Ford.
I know my 2022 won't last forever (but I plan to try)...any chance the encryption can be defeated...maybe not right now, but IS that possible? Or might the Comma 3x be stuck at 2023's and earlier, never to see the newer models?

Is it possible? Yes, anything can be cracked with enough time and money

Is it probable? No, this isn't a token encryption to thwart tuners, this is encryption that is required by the European union for any connected vehicle. Some legislator has fears of terrorist taking control of connected cars and crashing them into each other. As such the legal requirements for the encryption are pretty steep.

You can take a look here at what was required to crack the toyota encryption, and the Toyota is software only, ford's encryption is hardware + software.

It appears I steered you a little wrong. This thread is about our early adventures with OpenPilot. This thread here:

Is the one you would need to read the first ten posts of.

I am on page 47 out of 52 but have not yet seen anyone mention that right now, the Comma 3x WITH harness, is under $1000...as in $999. But, I think it is only for maybe the rest of today?? Just wanted to get this out there, because until yesterday, I thought these were still running $1500 with harness.

They dropped the price in January. The new regular price is $1,099 with a harness. Sales frequently give a free harness, so $999

I just got staging 3.0 after a million times freezing up at the comma logo. I found it easiest to just disconnect from the car and install the update in the comfort of my house. Haven't tested it out yet, but I noticed a lot of new driving models. Can someone advise on where I can find info about these driving models? TIA

Comma doesn't do release notes or documents on models. The only thing you can do is read through the discord channel on driving feedback.

And it doesn't appear possible to copy a link for the driving feedback channel either. You'll have to search for the COmma AI discord, then join #driving-feedback.

Did anyone else got to install the Stage 3? My unit ask me to do an update after the update it just froze with the comma symbol. I end up having to reset the unit. After reset I couldn't install in any custom program. bit.ly/bp-staging
I end up installing the standard Comma software. There's not much setting on there. The truck ran ok but its got a little ping pong effect bouncing left and right. There was any setting that you can set like in the past. TIA..
