I have a 2021 5.0 Lariat. I have a question regarding transmission coolant. Is it right that transmission coolant uses engine's coolant on 10R80 transmission?

See the attached - your 5.0 uses a heat exchanger to transfer heat from the tranny fluid to the engine coolant.

It does not have a fluid (transmission oil)-to-air transmission cooler if that's what you're wondering.

There is no coolant in the transmission. There is transmission fluid, which is somewhat similar to motor oil in your engine.

As @Buyer2021 explained, your transmission has it's own heat exchanger located in front of the radiator - think of it as a small radiator - that cools the transmission fluid.

So that means installing a lower thermostat like 170 will help out cooling the transmission fluid temp.

I live in Kuwait and summer is coming, I don't want to see my trans temp reaches 220-230 anymore.

Could be misunderstood.

The transmission heat exchanger is mounted on the side of the transmission housing. But it IS true that the engine coolant is cooled up front at the radiator, and thus the heat from the transmission fluid that was "exchanged" with the engine coolant is ultimately removed up front.

Not necessarily, both engine and tranny temp management is more complex than that implies.

Just curious, what engine coolant temps do you see when your trans temp shows 220-230?

FYI FORScan will allow display of digital engine coolant temp if you don't already have that.

Yes, a 170° thermostat will help with your engine coolant temperature. It will do nothing for the transmission.

Engine temp it ranges from 190F to 210F where fans kicks on and then it goes back to around 190F. My main problem is the trans temp and I've read some post where people installed 170 thermostat and their trans temp went 20 degrees down. I created this post just to make sure that 2021+ models don't have own radiators as older models. So now it's for sure the engine radiator fluid goes to trans cooler to cool it down.

Yes, a 170° thermostat will help with both your engine coolant temperature as well as your transmission
Thanks that's what I was thinking about.

Just so you know the 10r80 transmission operating temperature is 206 to 215 degrees. The hydraulics and fluid are designed for this as the optimal temperature. Running cooler than those temperatures would likely create problems.
If you don't already have the heavy duty towing package, I would suggest installing the radiator for that package it has more cooling for both the engine and transmission.

Thermostat won't help you at all with the trans temp. It only controls water entering the motor. You have a 5.0 so you can source the raptors trans cooler parts that uses oil/water for trans warming, but above ~150 degrees F it begins flowing the oil to an air/oil cooler located in front of the radiator.

Given your climate, you can look at both not only running a higher concentration of water to coolant ratio, but also look at surfactant coolant additives like https://www.amsoil.com/p/amsoil-dominator-coolant-boost-rdcb. The factory heat exchanger leaves much to be desired on the 14th gen and isn't as simple to tap into like the 13th gen trucks. The aftermarket coolant setups that go directly to the trans are compatible however (some 13th gen solutions try and tap in at the old location of the heat exchanger on the front bottom of the trans whereas as indicated above, 14th gen heat exchangers are on the side of the trans).

Devices such as this that connect directly to the side of the trans are compatible with 14th gen trucks.
