Why so often? Are you doing a lot of towing?
No, just watched some video's on Youtube from a head toyota engineer taking down engines and explaining why small newer engines with lower viscosity oils need more frequent oil changes if you want 300,000 life spans.....oil is cheap....why not....

Throwing away perfectly good oil based solely on the calendar and not on miles driven or operating conditions does absolutely nothing to increase engine life longevity. All it does is empty your wallet faster and consume more finite resources.

Full support.

10,000km or when the oil life indicator tells me to is my benchmark.

FULL SUPPORT.

OLM isn't the way to do it either.

The ONLY way to determine an accurate oil change interval is to send off a sample of used oil to a place like Blackstone Labs. That takes into account far more than time and mileage. They will tell you exactly what is going on inside the motor and will even recommend if you should increase/decrease your oil change interval.

Lake Speed Jr has also spoke of a very early 1st oil change as well and no greater than 5k oil changes

Yeah. 10,000km or the monitor. Whichever comes first. Not wasting my money with oil samples when 90% of my driving is highway.

It's not a waste if they identify elevated levels of a particular metal, mineral, or other material that points to something on the brink of failing -- and resulting in a catastrophic failure that will cost you much, much more to repair vs. an occasional oil analysis. That's actually the biggest benefit of getting your oil analyzed.

I might consider it every 50,000km but every oil change? Not for me.

and that’s your choice. I don’t know.

I have a lot of family up north. All of my dad’s side is Canadian. Most are now in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
