Will I need to have the new 12” pcim programmed to my truck vin? Or just forscan updates ?You do need the new lower panel as the audio controls are relocated to it when you go to a 12" screen.
You can pull the A/C controls from your existing panel and transfer them to the new one since most of the features on the new panel A/C controls won't work at all.
They'll look pretty but be mostly useless. Looks like your XL is 2WD, so transfer over your existing drive mode switch to the new panel as well. The 4A/E-Locker drive mode switch on the new unit won't work with your truck.
Ha.. you beat me to it! I was going to say the same thing. This doesn't work unless the modules are coded to the trucks vin, definitely not a plug and play proposition. You'll need to have it programmed with your VIN.
I suggest contacting someone like @Jesse-Infotainment or @rugedraw for some guidance.
$2600usd is an insane amount for this upgrade. How are the guys on YouTube doing it for $800 ?@camps23 this would be the best way to go, it will be a fully integrated upgrade to your current truck

Those guys have no idea the world of shit they made for themselves by taking shortcuts. Yea, you can throw the parts in there and in turns on and works. That doesn't mean there aren't underlying issues they don't know about. I'm not a software engineer. I lack the knowledge to tell explain to you why you can't use buy an APIM from ebay and throw it in there. All I know is that it is not that simple.$2600usd is an insane amount for this upgrade. Let me try and explain. So the programming on these units is very specific. There are a lot of features on your Vin that we don't want you to lose as part of the upgrade. However if we program to your as-built data that will not work either as your as-built data does not have the upgraded radio present. Essientially what we are doing is ensuring your Vin data is programmed into the APIM so all of your features work and then hand programming in the features associated with the new radio. Then we test the screen and module together so we know you are getting a quality unit and failure is much less likely.
