On November 2, I traded my 2021 F-150 3.5 EB Lariat 502a SC 4x4 with the sport appearance package and black on black color for a 2024 F-150 PB Lariat 502a SC 4x4 with black appearance package and black on black color.

Reason:
3 reasons: 1.significant personal thing happened just 3 months after purchasing the truck. 2.In November 2023 I clipped a sizeable deer 3. In July 2024, my good neighbor's tree fell on my truck. A lot of cosmetic damage, but the body shop did a poor job on the paint.

About the 2024...
Basically the same as the 2021, but PB and a few more creature comforts and features as follows:

1. PB - a must this time around. We live in what is considered a rural county in OH. Our home has natural gas and is on well water. We've had power outages and after the last 3 day outage I vowed to get a backup power source in place because if i can run the water pump we're up and running.
2. HUD - not a must but I do like it. I'm in my late 40s and my eyes are not what the used to be after working in front of a computer screen for 20+ years.
3. BAP - i really like the full black look. No more brown/red and black interior. Was not a fan it, but a lot my passengers seemed to. The 22 inch wheels are really nice as it's super easy to clean the inside of them, which really draws my eyes to them when clean as they look appropriately sized for the truck. Just 2 more inches, but it makes a big difference. I'm not going where some will go with that last statement.
4. Quality - this truck seems to be really well put together. The last one was as well, but I found a few paint blemishes - not so on the 2024. Orange peel is nearly nonexistent. Inside is rattle free like 2021. Engine compartment is neat and things appear to be buttoned up well. Underbody is neat and there are no wires or other items just hanging. I feel so proud to be driving this truck. Ford hit my high expectations mark on this one.
5. Blue cruise - didn't have on 2021. I drove to IN to pick up the 2024, which was about 4 hours away. I drove nearly the whole way home using blue cruise. I'm not sure of the version I have, but it performs lane changes upon toggling the blinker. It does not ping pong in the lane. It tracks very well and I appreciate it moving over slightly/away from when I'm passing another vehicle. Never thought I would subscribe to this, but most likely will when my 90 days is up as it's a real game changer.
6. Upgrades - tinted windshield (1 shade lighter than 3 back) and driver and passenger (same shade as 3 back) windows. Had spray in liner installed. Reusing tri-fold aluminum cover from 2021. Dealer installed rear wheel well liners. Purchased mud flaps.
7. Will be purchasing premium care extended warranty from granger. Hopefully, they have an end of year sale. Going to go with 8 or 9 years and 150k miles as i plan on being the only owner of this truck.

Good luck with it!

For the ESP just try to match up the miles per year you drive with the years of the ESP and you will be golden! If you regularly drive 15K miles a year then the 150K miles at 10 years is a perfect match.

Stay away from deers and turkeys. :)

Sorry, but can't imagine buying a truck based on a feature that can be had by purchasing a portable generator for $600-700. What happens when you need to leave the house while the power is still out?

Almost all your other reasons are nice to haves and cosmetic differences, so only you can decide if they are worth it.

Bluecruise: Most won't pay the $500/yr. I grabbed the one-time 3 year plan for $200/yr on my 2021 Job 1 truck after I upgraded it to the new BC 1.4 (like yours), but likely wouldn't have paid 2.5 times as much for it if that was my only option.

Hybrid: Compared to ICE trucks, the weight of the Powerboost trucks significantly reduces payload and towing capacities. For light/occassional hauling/towing, you should be fine.

Extended warranty: Whatever helps you sleep at night. But I'm pretty sure your warranty won't cover the one thing that will eventually need replacing - the battery.

In the end, it's your money and your truck. Hope it works out for your needs.

Congrats!

You said PB ‘significantly’ reduces payload. Do you have an actual number? I’m payload hungry and don’t know where to look yet.

It's on the sticker inside the driver door jam.

Anything that adds weight, whether it's a big battery on a hybrid or a big moonroof on an ICE, reduces hauling and towing capacity.

Again, as long as you're not looking to haul or tow at the bitter ends of the ratings for your truck, you'll likely be fine.

I believe what is stated as significant is actually about 200 lbs payload weight.

?

#1624 and #11,200. If I need to tow more than #8000 regularly I’m getting a Super Duty. I’m certainly not trading it in for any ICE only F-150.

I left my truck (7.2KW Powerboost) plugged into our house running for about 2-1/2 days when we were without power this last summer. Engine would fire up about every 15-20 minutes, then shut back off. Never heard it. Burned approx. 8-9 gallons. Drove the wife's car to work while she worked from home. Ran everything. Well pump, air conditioning, refrigerator lights computers etc. no problem (right up until she turned on the hair dryer while the A/C was running!) Every once in a while you have to manage how many things are running! I LOVE the PowerBoost! My payload is only 1354 lbs, but my truck is probably the heaviest F150 you can get. (21 Limited PB). If I need to haul something big and heavy, I'll borrow my buddy's utility trailer.

Points taken, but my points still stand. Not everyone has a second car nor a buddy with a trailer.

All depends upon what two specific trucks you're comparing and what options they have. If you think the largest difference between any ICE F150 and any PB F150 is only 200#, I want you to share some of what you are smoking.

Good for you. That's not the same for every PB, though, especially his Lariat.

I already told him he'd probably be fine as long as he didn't need to haul/tow heavy loads and to check the sticker on his exact truck.

His is a Lariat while yours is juat an XLT. A typical Lariat 4x4 will be around 1,350 to 1,400 or so. Let's see what HIS truck is.

Actually it’s closer to about 300 lbs. Look up similar axle specs and all other parameters equal.

I think #400 is a closer average difference on the sticker. The PB GVWR is famously gimped.
