I first checked my Sync software version on August 25th on my 2023 Powerboost Lariat. I pulled up the About Sync screen under settings. Today I just checked it again, and it’s exactly the same as August 25th, though I’ve received notice of a couple of OTA updates over the past months. Every version number on the About screen is identical to the August screen. I happen to have taken a picture of the August screen for some reason. What am I missing?

Other module updates will not change the sync version.

Okay. Is 23291 PRODUCT Revision: 1049 the latest Sync 4 update?

I think there is one build newer than that, but not necessarily available for all year models yet?

It's a 24xxx build, so compiled at some point in the first quarter of 2024. It was released for install (FDRS) several months after compile date.

Overall you are not missing much of anything but a few minor bug fixes this year. Next major update to push OTA should be Bluecruise 1.4 if Ford gets around to it. Maybe next year.

Ford needs a dedicated team to work on these OTA updates and push them out in a timely manner, but just like always, Ford disappoints when it comes to doing anything quickly for customer service. They seem to be too busy building additional vehicles with built in problems instead of fixing things in production.

Surely you don't think the same staff that builds vehicles are also handling OTA software updates on-the-side?

Although Ford, along with many other "Legacy" automotive manufacturers, IS struggling with their lack of OTA delivery prowess, I'm certain the staff regarding is a dedicated team. It's their full time job.

Interestingly, the software division is far better at actually creating/developing software updates than they are at delivering them over a cellular network. Just one more reason for Ford to provide a Mongoose and an FDRS license in the glove compartment of every vehicle they build. ???

If you are interested in hearing from Jim Farley this whole interview is very good. If you only want to hear about software, fast forward to the 25 minute mark.

For those that don't know the IP acronym that he uses, it stands for Intellectual Property. So, if I understood him correctly, if you own a fully electric vehicle Ford is writing the software but not the ICE vehicles. So, software updates are quite the process.

I received 4.3.6 on Oct 7. Not worried about anything as the truck is good and without issues.

You should see the 6.x updates before end of year then. Those tended to deploy rapidly with multiple updates queued server side at same time. I had two in one day and another few days later.
