I'm all for allowing people to carry a weapon for self-protection even if myself, I don't choose to.

Gun owners should know that the most likely use for your personal self-protection gun, is that your kid or an adult (includes gun owner) uses it to kill themselves. That's 54% of firearm deaths. About 41% of gun deaths are crimes committed by a gun. Mass shootings, killing of a cheating spouse, crimes, etc. It should be added that victims of violent random gun crime, probably aren't hanging out at their job on a forum talking about mods for their $65K pickup truck. Most of us are probably not hanging out on a street corner, part of a gang, selling dope or part of the population overwhelmingly subjected to those violent gun deaths. About 2% of gun deaths are accidental deaths.

Some statistics indicate that less than 1% of firearm deaths were used in self-protection. Yet somehow most of the world walks around without a gun and not being a victim. Technically it's safer for your lifespan overall to be gunless and possibly get robbed 1x in your life or even your ass kicked. But I get and support the desire to protect yourself and especially your family. We have that right in this country.

I will say, beyond any doubt, as a child that grew up when crime was nearly 3x what it is now in a poor neighborhood in a crappy place, your brain will keep you much safer than a gun ever will.

I myself keep a less than lethal weapon in my console as it's what I'm comfortable with, even though I have a concealed carry permit and a Glock in the gun safe in my nightstand.

Did I miss the best semi-permanent mount for inside the console? Thanks

I've used a gun to protect myself twice. Neither time involved any shots being fired, producing a gun stopped the assailants both times. How many times do you think THAT scenario happens? You don't know, and neither does anyone else for sure, because those times don't make the statistics OR the news. How many times does the media cover a commercial flight that didn't crash?

I've got 3 defense of self/others via firearm (only 1 on an agency statement)

There's a clear escalation ladder as a situation builds (though it happens quite quickly) and very rarely does a shot need to be fired. The whole "don't pull a gun unless you intend to use it" nonsense is just that. Unholstering a concealed firearm will instantly stop any sane person from aggression. Some might need to be aimed at. There's not a one-size-fits-all approach and you just won't know how you'll act until a situation arises.

I had to aim at one to stop him, in the other situation the would-be robbers scattered when I drew it.

I don't get gun people. I'm all for your right to do whatever you want, I just don't get it.
For some, no explanation is necessary. For others, no explanation is possible.

Sure, it's about being prepared. You keep a gas mask on you at all times? You wear a Kevlar vest? I'm sure you were all for social distancing and masks to stay prepared too right?
I'm guessing that you don't own a fire extinguisher or a first aid kit either, eh? And you don't need auto insurance, as you'll just avoid collisions and other losses.

I just get real sick of internet big dicks belittling people. You'll notice I didn't have a damn thing to say until someone whipped out their internet big dick and started calling others sheep.
I think you just love saying the word 'dick'.

Nobody is assuming anything. They are basing it on the content of your public posts.
So, because I don't get off on guns, and don't worry about crime stats that are mostly amassed in places I'll never go, I'm obviously a CNN viewer/White Guy for Harris right?

That couldn't be further from the truth, but continue.

I do not own either, correct.

I have insurance because the state makes me. I have not made an auto insurance claim in about 20 years. EDIT- it was 15 years ago. My mistake. Had I not had insurance, I'd have been able to recover from the $1500 20 year old Toyota Corolla I would have lost. In fact, I did because I had the lowest level of coverage possible just to avoid tickets.

Lots of people in this world make unwise choices. You're welcome to continue making yours.

Sure. You too.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

Clearly a few people misread the title of the thread as "If you don't like or understand guns, come in here and get on your soapbox because people really care what you think".

Re-read the thread title and make your way out if you have no interest in putting a gun holster in your F150 and we will see you in the thousands of other threads where there is mutual interest.

I like the center console gun cases, but can be cumbersome if you need in a jiffy.
