Simple question, and the explanation for those who are curious is below. Can I change climate control to F, while maintaining outdoor temperature display in C ?

Explanation:

So Canada is weird in how we do measurements. While federally we are supposed to be fully metric the reality is far from it. There's a million nuances and reasons why this exists but below is a sample of it.

Interestingly enough the F150s in Canada already have tire pressure and boost pressure measured in psi; while they technically should be in kpa.

Most Canadians over 40 will measure
  1. Speed - km/h
  2. Short distances - feet/inches
  3. Long distances - km
  4. Weight - lbs
  5. Very heavy weight - kg
  6. Towing - lbs
  7. Indoor temperature - F (Specifically an Ontario thing)
  8. Outdoor temperature - C
  9. Cooking temp - F
  10. Tire pressure - psi
  11. Boost pressure - psi
  12. Fuel - L
  13. Beer - pints
+ many other variations

I would dig into the Forscan excel file and look for HVAC module to start. Might be able to change the reading.

I figured it was possible via forscan but wanted to double check if anyone knew of a UI setting.

Well, this does explain some things about Canada, eh?

In all seriousness, this is similar to what many of us in the military do (especially the long and short distances category). I've been retired for some time and still do short distances in ft/inches and long in km (klicks).

Anyone who measures their height in cm or especially weight in kg sets off red flags for me.

You made my head hurt
All those conversions on the fly
I would need more beer to process
This is like England..most use mph, vice kph,yet use liters for fuel
But mpg .

Omg 5k runs...vice 2.5 miles..
Or C for outside air temp in the helicopter, but use lbs per hr on fuel burn
Stop I say.
????

The thing is, it's like... When someone tells me that they need a 10kg bag of cement I'm like what?

Oh yeah, and dirt and concrete is measured in yards.

It is truly weird. I can't say I've ever heard someone in my lifetime measure something in cm or meters.
Only when I want to divide something into equal parts.......:crackup:

Idk man. Maybe It’s a grunt thing because I don’t use metric for anything, it’s all feet miles and nautical miles and I’ve never stepped on a boat bigger than a Tracker

I don’t even use military time

It’s a very specific age thing. Most Millennials and younger don’t use imperial like you do. Canada was just very gradual with the metric transition.

To those that say the constant conversion must be terrible: not really. Its no worse going from metric to imperial than it is going from one imperial unit to another imperial unit. ?

Edit: To those wondering why, it’s because when we switched, all the weather broadcasts switched to C. But the analog thermostats in people’s homes did not. So you started to get used to Celsius for outdoor temperature ranges, but you still think about it being 71 or whatever inside.

As a fellow Ontarian, a lot of the confusion can be traced to the availability of metric appliances. e.g. I'm a scuba diver/instructor, and most of our equipment is sourced from US distributors (even if like Scubapro/Johnson Outdoors, a lot of their gear is manufactured overseas), so SPGs are most commonly provided in PSI vs the world standard of BAR (barometric pressure). Even teaching scuba theory (especially to children), is done in both imperial and metric (and metric is SO much easier). Careful with you beer too; American pints are only 4/5ths of a real "imperial" 16/20 oz . Don't get me started on fuel economy! ?
