Modest gains for the regular 3.5, may be worthwhile for me despite the warranty implications. Odd that the 21 Raptor is out.

The calibration can be purchased online to be installed at a local dealer. These calibrations meet Ford durability standards and are covered by the vehicle’s three-year, 36,000-mile Ford Performance parts warranty."

Looks like they're simply bringing the regular EB to the base levels of the Raptor (the actual power/torque curves should be more telling). Pretty conservative, but that's more my approach with the truck.

Are there physical differences between the 3.5 and raptor 3.5? It's unfortunate that Raptor version is a little hotter. Seems like nothing more than they bought the higher trim and get to keep their HP difference because Raptor.

Hopefully we get some Dragy runs with the tune. I don't think the regular raptor tune is enough for me though. 466/554 that they're getting with the tune might be just enough though.

Yes, the HO 3.5 is a little different. They won't be doing this for the powerboosts though as they already make more torque than even the ford-tuned raptor. Ford is also relying on the stock intake limitations which they seem to indirectly be acknowledging the shortcomings of.

So wait, stock the 3.5 is 400hp/500tq and the tune brings the truck to 450hp/510tq? I would think torque would be more but that’s putting us at the H.O 3.5 power levels.

That's correct. While it's an increase of only 10ft lbs peak, it's 100 ft lbs more at 2500 rpm. I'm not sure it the HO tune was always 100ft lbs more down there or this is hotter than the HO with matching peak numbers. The top end hp pull should be nice too as the 3.5 had good power up top, but it is not nearly as strong as it is down low.

So more low and top end power, Similar mid-range?

My truck traps around 100-101. I think the top speed is 104 or 106. I imagine you will hit that in a 1/4 mile race, post tune.

Yeah I’ll admit I have no idea what the stock HO Dyno graph looks like.
My only qualm is whether or not if you have an ESP this nullifies powertrain. I mean I get that a tune could put more stress but as others have mentioned, I’m sure the 3.5 has no issue making the power but ford reduced output to err on the safer side of things. I see $825 isn’t the absolute cheapest but I’m most tunes are around that price.

also, would be dope as hell to be able to go to the ford pass app and just buy it from there and get it as an over the air update.

I'm not sure how this calibration would effect a Ford ESP contract, but with Ford only advertising a 3yr/36K warranty that starts at the vehicle in service date, the warranty isn't much of a selling point for those of us with 2021 F150s.

They come from the max torque 1 and max torque OP 1 tables shown in HP Tuners VCM editor.

These tables list the max torque allowed at certain RPMs in certain gears, but in practice they seem to act as a torque request more than a limiter.

My truck isn't stock, but running 93oct fuel with a stock tune, the calculated torque values from the PCM very closely match the values in those tables.

Picking a stock tune log file at random, my truck made a calculated brake torque of 528 lb-ft at 3080RPM and 416HP at 4860RPM with 93oct fuel.
