I have 20" summers and move to 18" winter and for the reduced costs the tires and rims they much better deal...

But i have used a bunch of different winters but i have run Nokian R3 and just upgraded to R10 Studded for the F150 and nokian are the best winters i have used.

I was running Pirelli winters in my SUV and went with Nokian R5s for this year, I have used the toyos as well good tire i just dont think my last set last all that long.

My '24 KR with 157" wheelbase was equipped with the 20" Chrome-Like PVD wheels and Pirelli Scorpion ATR 275/60R20 tires from factory.

I live in the Pacific NW and regularly go over mountain passes during winter. I don't believe these wheels/tires would be sufficient for my purpose during winter here.

I was thinking of moving to 18" wheels/tires for winter months and was wondering if there would be any issues clearing the rotors with 18" wheels?
I Puchased a set of 4 Ford Performace wheels - Ford F-150 Ford Performance Wheel 20" x 8.5" Dark Alloy 6-Spoke Kit Of 4 from Levitown Ford in Long Island they were drop shipped.
a set of Blizzak DM-V2s 275/60 R20 (need to get them soon as they sell out). Great snow tire, used them on my last F150. - Didn't want to reprogram the speedometer.
Just upgraded the Tires to Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5 winter tires. One of the first to be Certified braking on icy surfaces.

I volunteer at a ski resort in Vermont in the winter and will always use snow tires. Durning one storm last year, snowed during the day, took hours to get out of the parking lots (mountain could not plow) and people on All Season (aka 3 Season tire) and even SUVs and Pickups were having trouble unless they had good tires.
it is amazing to me how many people do not replace tyres soon enough.

Hard to beat Defender’s, probably the most well rounded tire money can buy.

I will second the Nokia Hakkapeliitta tires. They were probably the best snow tire I ever had and I had the older R3.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I have used Blizzaks on my previous SUVs, so I think I will go with them for the truck as well.

Now the question is: Should I stay with the 20" wheels, or should I downsize to 18" wheels for winter tires?
I put 18's on my 21 Platinum for the winter, came with 20's. It really comes down to whatever size wheel you can find that you like and go from there.

on one hand I agree , but they still suck in winter compared to the worse winter tire …

i have used defenders in the winter and had to use 4x4 to the truck to move the struggled to stop

with real winter no problem stopping and use of 4x4 is only in conditions that I would not even drive in with defenders.

Had Wild peak at3. OK on snow but we get a lot of ice here. You cannot beat the Hakka 10s. Most studs of any tire. Blizzak would be my goto again if ice were less of of an issue.

Where in PNW are you?

@SumGuy WRU?

I'm in Post Falls.

I'm with others on the Blizzaks. I also have a second set on rims for East, in garage, swap outs.
Have never had the slightest slip.

I live in the Portland/Vancouver area, on a hill and often travel to the coast throughout the year going over the mountain pass. It often gets more snow than in town and ices up during winter storms.

I'm convinced of Blizzaks' performance and will most likely put those on. I just have to decide if I should go with a separate set of wheels for winter... hopefully I can find a decently priced set locally.

17" wheels will fit on your vehicle and is another option. They will probably be cheaper than the 18". And as others said you could always find a set of take off wheels from previous years F150s and mount your winters onto those.

I think I've read others saying that the 24's require a new TPMS sensor compared to previous years. Not sure if that's confirmed or not (I hope not, it would mean my 18" package from my 2018 may throw a TPMS warning light).

I can confirm for you that the 2024 f150 has a different frequency TPMS, (thanks Ford?), I can’t remember the frequency of my previous f150, but for 2024 they have been changed to 433 mhz.
I placed my summer wheels, from my 13th gen, on my 2024 RCSB and they are not being recognized.

Fun thing, though, when I back up to my garage, where the original wheels are stored, when I pull away, I can see the psi values for a little while. I know it’s those tires as I checked before I pulled them off and the psi values match those numbers.
I’m going to wait until I put the originals back on for winter before I replace the TPMS on my summer wheels, most likely.

id go with another set of rims . Makes things so much easier. If you’re handy with the jack you can swap at home or just load them up and it’s easier for a shop to swap. Less wear and tear on the rims constantly removing and installing tires.
This year I’ll be using these

I upgraded my stock 20" rims and used them with Blizzak winter tires and they are GREAT! We also have them on my wife's Taurus SHO for the winter and she plows through everything. Highly recommend them.
