I did not buy a Chevy because...

They are:
slower
heavier
less engineered.
uglier
worse mileage
worse motors - cyl deactivate etc (guys here had 3 blow up)
the GM govt bailout - like someone else said! Ford never took any welfare.
They copy Ford - "Turbomax engine"
I prefer the F150 over the GM 1500 largely due to GM having a tiny gas tank.

However, for full size SUVs, I prefer GM's Suburban/Yukon XL over the Expedition Max. GM has a better chassis and it's no surprise that the Expedition is not used as a pursuit vehicle. GM has no real competitor to the Ford Explorer in that class when it comes to driving dynamics.

They don’t have 4-Valve V8 that revs to 6,800 rpm out of the box :). And I prefer to spend my time away from the shop…

I am now convinced after owning this whoever in the 50’s that decided pickups shouldn’t rev high just didn’t want to spend the dough on a forged crankshaft. It’s too much fun NOT TO!!

In my case I compared regular cab short beds only..and Ford with the 5.0 12" center screenand full digital dash was simply not available. A big factor was every standard feature was a 'option' I would have picked. Cloth seats, 3.73 rear locker tow hitch, power one touch windows locks and mirrors tilt cruise factory navigation heck even the little storage compartments in the bed. I DO wish it had some 110-volt option, even just a plug in the dash, and power driver's seat and carpet but I can drop $5,000.00 in mods and have a great looking, running Sport Truck and that simply was impossible with the Chevy or GMC... Granger's price sealed the deal.

When looking around for my first truck, (needed to tow my SCCA B sedan), I looked at both. Settled on what I wanted from each and compared prices. The Chevy was close to 500 less than the Ford. After negotiation I did buy the Ford, dealer said "I can't build them for that kind of money". Add to that the demo that Chevy had me drive had rattles and creaks, the dealer said "it already has over 5K miles on it"! The seat was hard as a rock, the trim was really cheap looking plastic (as opposed to Fords rich looking plastic) and it had a much less comfortable driving position. The Ford turned out to be a good one, a little over 150K on it when I sold it to purchase another as it was the first in a long line of "F series" vehicles!

Been a Ford guy since my F100 in the 1970s.

Sure, I've owned other brands over the years as well. Mazda and Honda have been good to me, RAM not so much.

So more Fords than anything else and it's been a good experience overall.

I've always viewed GM and Chrysler as products for my friends who didn't know any better.

P.S. though the Dodge slant-six in my first car (early '60s Coronet) was super solid.
