FX4 package is more than enough for all the “I don’t do off road at all” you’ll be doing. I have used the FX4 for doing some off road farming chores where I honestly thought I’d get stuck in the field, and it performed better than I expected. Now you need to consider whether you’ll truly use the longer bed. What will you use it/need it for?
Longer bed for side job - lawn care.
I work out of my truck and the 5.5 bed works. Now I would say if you want to install a tool box a 6.5 bed is the way to go. And the only hardcover that is available for an F-150 with a toolbox is for the 6.5 bed..fyi.

So for example. I used to be a full time contractor. Had Econolines, Transit's, and super duties. All have their place. Now I have a 9 to 5 and part time contract. So I weigh daily driver vs work/tow/haul.

Every few years I take a 6200 lb boat to Florida. 2500 miles round trip. Things like max tow and the 6.5 bed would be nice, but come at a cost for daily driving. While shopping for a 24' I learned that max tow wasn't something I needed and actually decreased payload. I made sure to get the 3:73 rear end. Running up to the store or parking in a small town to hit a restaurant would be a pain with a larger wheelbase. Again, had several super duties. Usually would take the wife's car for those type of trips.

The bigger bed would be nice to work out of, but don't always need a 6.5 bed. A stick of 10 foot conduit is a pain to haul either way. That's what a van with a conduit rack is for.

Another equation is gas mileage. Definitely a lot to consider and I have spent so much time throughout the years debating my wants vs needs.

This time around the step was really important. Working out of my bed and getting older it was a must. Another must was tow mirrors. I had to add them after. Worked out well. I learned how to use forscan to program the marker lights.

Just like the XLT /Lariat / KR/ Platinum conversation. I have had two Lariats and one 250 platinum. I just purchased a 24' XLT. My needs changed and I had the tricked out trucks. Now I was more worried about payload, reliability, and financial burden. I just traded in a 23' 13,000 mile loaded out Lariat that had more flipping issues than most my vehicles combined. Had a nice water feature though.

So I would say with the cost of these trucks and some of the issues you read about on this forum choose wisely. My 24' has 700 miles and has been to the dealership already for several days. Going back on the 15th. I think more than ever with these trucks it's need vs affordability. Not so much want.

And my apologies I obviously replied to the wrong person.....
your 2024 ford truck has been having issues? That’s weird. Which engine? What’s the issue?

I have the 5.0. Unfortunately on the way home from the dealer the the sensors freaked out while using adaptive cruise control. Dashboard lit up. Pre-collision warning along with several others. The dealership took it for a day and ended up turning stuff off so I could drive it peacefully. Sounds like on the 15th they are going to be replacing a good amount of sensors and re-calibrating the system.

For the little time I used it it was saying pay attention or whatever and keep hands on wheel....I have had 2 other trucks with adaptive cruise control no issues at all. I had to shake the wheel every so often or I got "hands on wheel" warning with the new truck. I look at the radio and I got "pay attention or whatever" warnings...it was nuts. Even my wife was like this can't be right!?

Dealer confirmed that the system was way to sensitive. There were several times that I would shake the wheel and it would continue to tell me that I needed to place my hands on the wheel. Would eventually flash red and turn adaptive cruise control off.

As you may have seen on some of my other posts I installed tow mirrors. With that I learned how to use forscan. I'm hoping I can turn blue cruise off. Unfortunately so far my experience has not been good with a blue cruise equipped truck.

I just traded in a 23' after 11 months because of non-stop issues. Not a good start.

2023 Tremor
I have 23 tremor and love it. 10 out of 10 times on 23 I'd buy tremor high. If I were buying a 2024, I'd go lariat with black appearance package. I just like the way it looks more and for my uses, fx4 is good enough

Before I got my tremor I was DEAD set on a 6.5 bed. I took a 45 second test drive. After that first 3 point u turn I pulled right back into the dealer and said thanks for your time and drove home and got a 5.5 tremor.

My 95 f250 is doable the newer f150 6.5 bed turning radius was laughable

In the end, you have to be able to enjoy the truck you paid boatloads of cash for as you sit behind the wheel.

I LOVE my 23 SCREW 402A ABM 3.5EB Tremor. More than I needed capability wise, but it looks stunning. Initially wanted to get an updated version of what I had (2012 XLT FX4), but the 2023 XLT FX4 was a serious downgrade compared to the 2012 (despite the salesperson insisting it was sooooo much better feature-wise even when I showed him it wasn't).

I hate chrome, so Lariat and Platinum were definitely out. No need for a Raptor. As I said, wanted an XLT FX4, but it would have been "buying down." So the clear winner was the Tremor.

Bottom line, do your "staff study," weigh and weight the various factors, and go with what works (which, to me, means when all things considered, I smile when I get in and push the start button).

Good hunting!

Cheers!

I've yet to see a black appearance package on a 24' XLT or Lariat with a 6.5 bed. On a Platinum.
Far as turning radius you get used to it. Just always parking at back of lot.
Truck parking is almost always at the back of the lot?

Coming from someone with a ‘22 Tremor 402A, I think the ‘24s are a downgrade for the price they’re asking. No dynamic bending headlights, no bed camera, no led DRLs like the lariat will have. All of this at a price increase of 7,000 over the sticker on mine.

Thanks. I really did try to be objective about it but at the end of the day, it’s only my opinion.

They took away things that I like about mine and raised the price to within spitting distance of a base raptor. I had already planned on keeping mine for awhile, but the refresh definitely solidified my position.

I bought my 2022 XLT because it was the only truck with the 36-gallon fuel tank and locking rear differential that was available during the pandemic related inventory shortage.

If I was buying a truck today it would be either a GM Sierra AT4 or a Chevy RST and WT 4WD trucks with the Z71 package. With these two trucks one get the 36-gallon gas tank and high-lock type transfer case that is a $11,000 option package with the F-150 Tremor.

GM/Chevy include extra options as standard with these trucks in addition to the hi-lock type transfer case standard with Ford in the $80,000 Raptor. This includes hill descent control, a heavy-duty air filter. The Chevy Silverado WT version has a MSRP of $44,880.

I am torn between the two as the price is only $1000 difference in Canada.
Which one is the better overall choice?
Lariat 502A with all of the options/upgrades with 6.5' bed vs Tremor 402A with all of the possible options/upgrades with 5.5' bed? Both with V8 5.0L engine.
I recommend the short bed, This truck My F150 Lariat has a TERRIBLE turning radius!

In my personal opinion the FX4 Lariat would be more of an all around truck. 157" wheelbase turning radius will take some getting used to. Great for towing. Never had a 6.5 bed F-150, but I have had a few short bed 250's. I agree with people buying Tremors for looks. You could always level/lift the Lariat and throw aggressive tires on.
I was hell bent on a 6.5 bed until I learned about only being available in chrome. Just can't do Chrome. I have done a chrome delete before. To have it professionally done it's expensive and have to tear the truck apart.

I only tow 6200 at the most. I was looking at tremors, but I like 20" tires. Like the way 20" tires drive and tow. Whenever I get a rental truck with 18" I can tell. Personal preference. Didn't want to buy a tremor and have to spend 4k+ on wheels and tires.
The Lariat is $1000 more expensive than Tremor. I just wanted to see if one of them is “all around” truck. Lariat also comes with FX4 package. I like that Tremor comes with aggressive tires and steel front and rear bumpers. Not sure if Lariat also comes with steel bumpers.
I don’t do off-road at all and I think some people just buy them for the looks and not always buy for what it is intended for.
It is good to have when you need it.
Just wanted to hear what people think here.

6.5 bed Lariat guy here. Just thought I'd chime in.
My 2021 Lariat 6.5 FX4 Bed has no Chrome BUT, 2024 may be different
Yes, the turning Radius is horrible. But, I never park with other colonists anyway.
I love love love my 6.5 bed, I don't know how to deal with a 5ft bed.
The 20" Hankook Tires on my Lariat FX4 were UNACCEPTABLE! I got new tires IMMEDIATELY!
I love all the Creature comforts on My lariat.
It makes no sense the Lariat is only $1,000 more. The Tremor must be missing something that the Lariat has.....?
I do like the looks of the Tremor (haven't seen the 24 though)

I came from a 17 Lariat to a 23 Tremor. Ordered the Tremor specifically for the looks (I dont do anything offroad that the Lariat couldnt do). If I had to buy a 24 it would be a Lariat since I am of the opinion that they ruined the 24 Tremors with the low budget front end. At least the 502a gets the better looking grill and headlights for 24.

You can get BAP on 157" wheelbase trucks in XLT or Lariat in Canada.

Yes, I discovered that with one of the other members. They were also able to build a 3.5 EcoBoost with Max Tow on Fords website. Unlike in the United states. Still need to verify with my dealer if Max Tow is available with a 3.5 in the United States. Just curious after being told no. Seems like builds in Canada are a little bit different.
