No, we're talking about having to touch the inside of the front door handle to unlock the rear doors, not the unlock settings. The rear door handles do not have the sensors, which makes it a pain if you have your arms full and need to put stuff in the back seat first. My fob unlocks all doors but fumbling for it in a pocket is not always practical.
It unlocks all the doors, but you have to first open one of the two front doors to unlock the rears. I believe thon on my wife's 2015 edge you can open any of the doors if you have the fob. Seems like a step backwards. I have a Lariat, so I am not sure if the higher versions have the added ability or not.

Not what this says. Touch front handle unlock truck open back doors without opening front door first

I don't think you are understanding the conversation here. Not talking about the fob, nor about the unlock settings. Talking about the door handle sensors.

I get that. Read the part I responded too it says have to open front doors to unlock rear doors. My 22 hit the door unlock on handle, fob or code panel how ever you unlock. I can open back doors with out opening front doors.

Ok then yeah that's just a setting in the truck.

I hit the lock button on the inside on the way out. Much easier.

Ditto.

The black buttons are unreliable and I don't trust them so I can relate to OP. Helps to have auto fold on then can tell the truck is locked. One of the reasons I use it.

I do wish we had a setting for auto lock when we walk away from the truck...
The black button is very much hit or miss for me.. I only use it on the passenger side if I need to access my truck from that side.. On the driver's side, I just press the bottom 2 buttons on the B pillar keypad to lock.
When I need to unlock the back doors to load things, I do have to just stick my fingers inside the FRONT door handle (not pull on the handle or even touch it) and all 4 doors unlock.. It's an extra step but I don't have to fumble for my keys.. Worth it!

Does anyone know why the door lock buttons on the handles are so hit-and-miss? Mine either work right with a gentle tap, or I could be standing there in the parking lot pushing full force looking like an idiot and they do nothing. The ones on my 2016 Lariat were MUCH better and worked every time with a soft touch. It's so inconsistent that I can't ever use them reliably and have taken to using the bottom two door code buttons to lock it every time.
No issues with my 22 Tremor

Here is something that is just plain dumb......

What I did find out, at least on my 21 XLT, is to arm the alarm, you have to use the key flob. Locking the truck with the buttons on the door doesn't arm it.

Oh that's even more of a pain. Luckily my door handles are relatively reliable when I grab them, only occasionally do I need to give a bit of a squeeze.

Agree!! This should have been a no-brainer and I often find myself in the exact same situation. ?
My rear doors auto unlock. This may be a setting in the infotainment system. I know this is a setting that's been available in explorers since our 1st one in 2017. My wife likes to change her settings so only the driver door unlocks so no one can walk up on her by surprise, hop in and drove off or take her purse while fueling.

Gotta buy a 2024 for that. It's in the Forscan thread how to enable it for 24+ trucks.

Mosey is right. Wait 2-3 seconds and then touch only the lock button seems reliably consistent. I have no issues with it unlocking by grabbing the handle, but only the front doors have sensors. It would be better if all 4 doors could cause the unlock. Often I want to put something in the back seat and have to grab the front Door handle to unlock the rear.

Yes same, and seems half the guys reading this thread have no idea that's what we are talking about. ?‍♂

I really get annoyed not having back door handles unlock with touch. Maybe there is a way to mod that to work but it would be more work than I want to fool with on it.

I have found if I'm getting out of truck after driving there is a delay in the black buttons on handle. If I unlock truck and go out to grab something I can shut passenger door and immediately hit the black button and doors will lock. It's annoying but this is all a software issue I think.
