Crazy question about aluminum body

Somebody's probably going to laugh at me for this but... I recently learned that our trucks are entirely made of aluminum. No big deal. I could care less. That said, today I was driving through a wind storm and my hood was buckling so much I thought that maybe it was not latched properly. Is this normal?

Closed and not loose, that why it freaked me out

The bumpers are still steel, but the vast majority of the body is aluminum. I could be crazy but I remember the bumpers being aluminum at one point and I was disappointed to find that mine are steel.

I haven't seen my F-150 hood buffet or flex in the wind at all. Conversely, my 5th gen 4Runner's steel hood buffeted like crazy. It was the only part of that vehicle that wasn't rock-solid tight. It freaks out a lot of 4Runner owners.

Check latch it can be adjusted a little.
If you can grab hood and pull up a little it probably needs adjusted.
Never seen hood have any issues in high wind. Ford has been using aluminum hoods since early 2000's even when body was steel.

Mine does a wiggle when passing semis
Not near as bad as my 21 f250.

mine will move a bit in really bad storms when heading directly into the wind.

It's normal on my 22 rcsb. Super windy the other day with cross wind and I met a semi. I had forgotten how it acts and scared the crap out of me. Probably mostly the noise and the rocking it does.

Other than that the fit is very good on the hood so I don't want to mess with the adjustment bumpers. 2 years of watching the hood jump around on the left side and it hasn't come up.

I was headed into the wind. 20+ mph winds with higher gusts. When I passed semis on the highway, I thought it was going to pop up it was moving so bad. Or was crazy.

It was really crazy. Like you, it was the most intense when passing semis. As long as nobody has experienced anything more than lots of movement, I won't worry too much about it. Thanks

Adjust the hood bumpers to put more pressure on the front corners and allow less flex. That should avoid excessive shaking.

I haven't noticed this on my F150 but my company RAV4 hood looks like a sheet in the wind when I run it through a car wash and get to the blowers.
