5 newer cars/trucks stolen in my neighborhood last night, they said the perpetrators are getting signals off spare transponders in everyone’s houses and then stealing push to start vehicles with their computer. Hoping my transponder key is what kept mine from being jacked. It seems you have to be a bit more savvy to take a keyed vehicle. There is bypassing and wiring involved vs just using a computer program on PTS vehicles.

Yeah, how bad can it be with five $50-$70k trucks sprinkled about, right? Super scary to me, thinking about super visual steering wheel lock....I know everything is defeatable, but the high tech crews won't have the tools or desire hopefully.

In my experience (I work for the good guys , Most vehicles thefts are taken from home when in driveways, as criminals have time to drive around and figure out where their target vehicles live, then come back in the early morning hours and take them. But yes, anything is possible! It's a bad time to be a TRX or hellcat owner.

Yes, that's why I used Grocery store example, or movie theater, or mall - they got enough time to scoot, but they also can follow home, which is disturbing on a whole other level! lol

I do understand the 3 am driveway thing is the preferred 'organized" theft method.

Only thing to slow them down. Is physical mechanical interrupt.
Tow truck they can still get it..

I don't live in a 'bad area' per se, but I do keep my keys in a farady box just in case..

If vehicle theft is a big concern, you could always relocate your DLC and put a fake DLC in the stock location. Cutting the factory harness and adding a hidden connector that needs to be connected for the DLC to work is another good option. Pulling the fuse for the DLC only works if the scantool relies upon the DLC for power.

On many new vehicles the key fob "falls asleep " when left stationary on a table, and "wakes" on motion, picking it up from the table. This prevents a signal scanner from obtaining a signal from it that can be passed through to the vehicle. GM has added this technology to there key fobs in 23, and I'm not certain as to whether or not Ford key fobs have this technology. If they don't the only option is to leave your fob in a mylar bag or metal box at night.

Glad I am on acreage back in the woods and cant be seen from the road and all vehicles are parked inside.

My truck doesn't have push to start but our Mercedes coupe does. Both vehicles are in the garage at home, and always have a club installed when parked in public. But Crew cabs don't fit in many garages and I'm amazed at how many people in my area can't put two, or even one vehicle in their garage because it's packed full with junk.
