Anything you prefer on the Lariat over the Platinum?
Aside from cost? Nope

often times people will convince themselves they made a certain decision because it was their most preferred choice. But in reality they’re just justifying their reasoning, whatever that may be.

for example: some say they bought a lariat over a platinum because it’s a better deal with respect to cost or options, and they saved money over getting the higher priced trim. But the reality is there’s no way their budget would’ve allowed the higher trim in the first place. But they convince themselves that the Lariat is the one they really wanted the whole time and they try to convince others of this as well. This isn’t always the case, but I’d wager that more often than not it is. And this isn’t a jab at anyone, all of us use this type of reasoning every day, myself included.

think about it like this: if Ford could make all F150’s cost the same price, regardless of trim or options, I guarantee you’d have a MUCH higher take rate on high trim levels with all the options checked.

This is why I am considering a GMC AT4x. Comes loaded with all the bells and whistles for generally the same price as a platy. And I really only want a V8 so the new platy is out of consideration.
Why not order a 2024 Tremor with the 5.0L V8? That would be a good comparo to the GMC and the 5.0 won’t bend a pushrod or smoke lifters like that 6.2 will.

I feel like the tremor (even in 402A) is a competitor to the AT4

AT4X is like a tremor platinum and has massage seats and nearly every option

The orange in the Tremor is a deal breaker for me. Absolutely terrible color. And the 24 Tremor took a step back in looks

Ford loves the orange for some reason, it's in the raptor as well w/ DRLs and such.

I was deciding between a loaded lariats vs Platinum. I ordered the platinum because of interior. It’s a 2023 so massaging seats and heated steering wheel are deleted. BUT platinum leather is more comfortable and higher quality. Your butt will thank you if you travel or have longer commute.

FWIW, the raptor seat bottom foam is 50% thicker than any of the other trims ;)

You'd be surprised at how underwhelming the plat's seats are when you take them apart. For my ass at least, the XLT cloth is second to the raptor in comfort, followed by a close 2 way tie of platinum / lariat in 3rd.

Has it been confirmed that Massaging seats and heated steering wheel won't be deleted on 24's? Could totally see the marketing side saying "this is what a platinum should have" and then delivery constraints continuing to have deleted items.

I’ve wondered this myself

How many do they normally build? Platinums are limited regardless. 6% IIRC They want to build 200k PBs, platinums are only PBs, the limited is now PP and numbered, so 12k platinums in total makes them rare trucks. If they have to delete, it won't be from them I'd think. I think they want to use the lariats as the $ printer.

It appears to me that you can get either the 3.5 EB or the PB on the 701 and 702. Or am I remembering incorrectly?

Yeah, either of those. It's the plimited that's PB only. Beats me, we'll see. KR also has MCS so that's a lot of units to be making for 24 when they didn't have any for half of 22 and all of 23.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I'm getting closer and closer to placing an order for a 2024 SuperCew with a 6.5 ft. bed in the base Platinum trim.

I went through the options and caught the distinction between the XL9/XL6 and XL5/XL7 axles which wasn't clear on Ford's build and price configurator.

What drove me to the Platinum trim versus the Lariat trim initially was the better headlight (LED projectors) and the better seat. But upon further review, I'm not sure if that's the case anymore. It appears the Lariat trim uses LED projector headlights as a standard feature now. Also, the Max Recline Seat is an option in the Lariat High (502A) package but it's completely unavailable in the base Platinum trim (701A) package.

Are the Max Recline Seats in the Lariat High (502A) package the same as those in the Platinum High (702A) package?

There are a few other things I like about the Lariat trim:
- Fixing running boards tend to be more reliable than the power deployable running boards
- 5.0 Coyote V8 - although we intend on purchasing an Expedition Max a few years after this F150 and I wouldn't mind keeping the powertrain similar

Lariat and platinum seats aren't much different unless MCS is a factor (outside of looks). Typically lay flat seats are different up top in other trims with adjustable wings. I don't think we've seen what a lariat layflat seat consists of yet.
