What's up with Top Tier gas?

In reading another thread, I looked up Top Tier gas to learn a little more about it. I then did a search for gas stations and was surprised that it is nowhere near me:

In a 100 mile radius, there is one station an hour away, according stationfinder.toptiergas.com. I was surprised there wasn't any shown in Albuquerque, even though I remember a Top Tier sticker on the Costco pumps when I was a member (been years though). Since it appears I do not have the option of getting Top Tier gas, I don't know what I am missing out on.

Any Chevrons around you? Not close but Costco in ABQ should have it.

I don't think the station finder is very good. I have a QT and a Sunoco nearby here in rural GA that don't show up but have the TT stickers. 2 Chevron stations nearby show up on the finder but no TT stickers anywhere?!?

I thought Sunoco, BP, and Shell were top tier.
I went to that site you mentioned and it ONLY showed one gas station. 76...didnt think they were still around.

Shell, chevron, ExxonMobil, costco, Texaco, sunoco, all are top tier. Google top tier gas companies and they'll have a list of all the stations. From that list, you'll know what's in your area.

You don’t have a mobile, exxon, shell, or chevron near you?

Goodness it’s just a stupid marketing stunt. The difficulty would be finding a gas station not on their list of “brands”.

Detergents are good but fresh is best ?

We Do have a Chevron, 2 in fact, although the south Chevron is kind of isolated near I25 and they totally gouge with prices when a couple miles up the road is all the others. I'll have to go check.

The Costco's in Albuquerque are still top tier. That's what I use in all my vehicles.

That map was the station finder from their website. I found it interesting that Love's (Flying J) was not on the list of brands, neither was Maverik. Neither of those are in my town, but certainly within the 100 mi radius circle.

I've struggled to find it around me as well. I've got most of the brands listed above, but none of them are actually top tier here. The only one that was top tier was a 76 that shut down a year or so ago.

In a small town about an hour south of me is a 76... I think the only one in the state but since I had completely dismissed that one, who knows.

Funny thing right here we have a gas tank farm the supplies many of the local top tier fuel stations. On any week day you can see mixed right in line with the ready to fill top tier station tankers many NON top tier tankers.

Shell supposedly adds nitrogen to their gas as a promo. Nitrogen is a non FLAMMABLE non EXPLOSIVE gas and our atmosphere is also approximately 78% Nitrogen. How does Shell get nitrogen enriched fuel from the same hoses that fills each every other truck.

Top tier is a marketing ploy to pay more for nothing more than someone adding CHEAP fillers to your fuel for more profit.

Just like cutting drugs with fillers in the drug world only being done right out in the open.
