Hello. I purchased in late December (of 2023) a new-to-me 2021 F-150 and am wondering why the Sync 4 software version is at 21008_Product Revision 252.

Upon receipt of the truck, noticed the modem serial number was blank, connectivity features were grayed out, etc. The dealer completed the 'fix' last week, plus a replacement H6 battery so now the FordPass connectivity works, automatic updates selected, etc.

I take it back to the dealer next week for an interior issue and would like to be informed on what to do/say regarding the updating Sync 4 software version.

Please will you please check the OTA and module details?

Interesting. I don't ever recall seeing Sync version 21008 before, but PTS is showing that same Sync version. It is very old.....that is from 1/8/2021. I see the dealer was able to recover your existing APIM and they updated the APIM, GWM and the TCU (they struggled getting the TCU updated, but they eventually got it) which are all good things.

Your GWM is recording an error code that is associated with the attached SSM. The SSM says that a GWM OTA will fix the issue. Then on 1/18 and on 2/2 (this was the same day the dealer performed updates) you were sent a GWM OTA that failed that I have never seen before where the release notes read:

"Bug fixes to improve your experience This is a routine update where we squash a few bugs."

The first the update failed is because the OTA trigger expired before anyone started the truck, but chances are, it would have failed anyway. The OTA update failed the 2nd time due to a manifest issue, but it seems like the OTA process is working and trying to do what is needed to fix your truck. I would wait a bit to see if the ship rights itself. As far behind as you are, I recommend you look into FDRS and updating the truck yourself as the OTA process will take a veeeeeeery long time to get you fully updated.

Bought it in October. Hopefully it tries to send again sometime soon. Appreciate the help!

dealer just updated. Only went to revision 498. They worked on truck for hour and called me to say it was done. As you can see on dealer invoice , u3000 error came up, they said drive it for awhile and see if ota will start now that it went up to 498 revision. Apple car did work, not sure what all their write up was about, I just asked them to update radio. I’m thinking about ordering the mongoose just to have for years to come and I can give more than hour the dealer is doing , can yall tell me if a Apim is bad by vin report, not sure if buying mongoose is waste if it is. Hopefully the vin run will tell me something. My other 2021 f150 had revision 900 something and had full screen apple car play, this 2021 f150 seems to be just not connecting good at only 498 revision. No updates since dealers 3 days ago. Kinda new to this stuff but have watched the videos. Thanks Daniel Jackson Mississippi

This update supposedly prevents radio presets from getting wiped after an update. I'm going to let it go through just got nostalgic purposes. I can't remember the last time I got an OTA. Plus, I want to see how the expensive ass Optima yellow top H7 battery I just put in my truck yesterday performs during an OTA.



23191 is the latest sync, but the APIM, GWM and TCU updates they did are key into getting your OTA's rolling again.
Got my first update since the truck was new last August!! It was updated last night to 23159 Rev 915....It was 22230 546 previous to this. Hopefully, I am good now and will receive them as they are pushed.

Your truck seems fine to me. Last OTA it got was in April of last year. Not sure why your truck hasn't been getting sent updates, but I don't see anything wrong with it. I will always recommend the Mongoose.

It does not seem you have the truck connected to a Fordpass account, so I can't see the codes it is reporting to the cloud.

Mr Rudedraw. Yesterday I reset ford pass and re did app. And reset sync. Wonder if any ford pass cloud info now showing ? 1FTFW1E85MFA29607 I know it’s not a big deal on that showing but I did reset everything yesterday. Mongoose will be in tomorrow anyhow
