Ok guys, well I FINALLY got my JL Audio Amp installed and I am telling you the overall sound is amazing... not, "I removed one speaker" amazing... I mean amazing.... For the first time since Ive owned the truck the volume hurts my ears.

We had a few naysayers about digital to analog to digital to whatever and none of that came into play. As my Audio guy said last November, we can go stright off the ACM to the Amp to the rear door speakers. Done deal.

After many postponements, holidays and snowfalls we were able to finally meet up and get the install done.
He intercepted the speaker wire from the ACM in the rear door, ran a new wire to the JL Audio amp and back to the speakers.

The overall increase in rear cabin volume is what we have been missing. Many bandaid fixes of partially setting fade to rear and\or removing front center speaker... None of that is necessary anymore, matter of fact he also installed my new Kenwood center channel speaker.

The amp I used is the JL XD200/2v2:

If you are looking for more volume on the cheap, I highly recommend this route. It works...

Did you keep the stock factory speakers in rear doors? With a 4 chsnnel amp, could you also power the a-pillar speakers since they are also powered by the head unit?

Would this also work for the regular B&O system? How did the Kenwood center channel speaker help?

I swapped the rear door speakers a long while ago to JL C2 650's. They provide better sound but of course the volume stayed the same.
I would assume you could do the same with the A-pillar speakers. I'm already contemplating the same but adding 2x 4" higher in the rear door.

I would assume so. The rear door speakers run off the ACM and virtually no power. I'd do the same runs to your rear and I'm certain it would balance out.

I have not been able to test everything fully so I can't answer honestly but considering the crap speaker we pulled with a nickel sized magnet I'm CERTAIN it's going to sound better.
Wife came home from work just as Audio guy was showing me all the finished product so I couldn't blast it fully.

I couldn't take all the stock rattling that is already horrible in my truck. Both front door speakers are awful.
I was gonna go with JL in the front doors but JL didn't have a pair that fit, so I went with these instead:

Is there a specific harness your installer used between the head unit to a loc, or did he splice into the factory wiring?

Did you only amp the rears? I just did the same thing with a little kenwood amp. What a difference.

Yes just the rear doors.
13 speakers in front
5 in rear
The 13 speakers in front is absolute overkill in the front of the cabin.
Only 5 in the rear, with one under a seat and 4 down at foot\floor level, piss poor design.

So it's SO easy. ACM to rear speakers right? Disconnect speaker and connect wires to new wire running back to amp, splice in RCA jacks for input connection. Run second pair of new wires back to the speakers and connect. Boom....

Oh I've only got the 8 speaker B&O. The speakers all still blow but at least it shows there's room for improvement. I would love to hear yours now!

I was looking at one of the Mobridge DSP/AMP plug and play units to keep things digital and minimize the splicing but, like you, wanted to see if there was any hope with the stock system at all first.

I would have gone DSP also with a Zen but my guy said it's not worth it. When I buy a truck I own it for 8 to 10 years. For me to put some money into a stereo system I don't mind, but I'm not going to do $5k or $10k.
In all honesty I just wanted better balance and this does it
