Dealer performed this on mine, hope it helps. I’m doing it as preventative measure, never had the problem, but hope I never do…hope I don’t have buggy issues with the update either, but I’ll take those over a sonic boom.

Hello, has anyone determined the cause of the speaker popping noise. I have a 2022 Plat with the standard B&O 8-Speaker System. Got in the truck started it and noticed the rear door speakers popping loudly and I am almost sure the sub was not working. Turn the truck off and got back in it 10 minutes later and stereo worked fine...anyone had this problem and fixed it. Thanks for the support!

I have a 22 platinum had the loud pop sounded like a gun going off. Took to dealer didnt find anything. Had not done it again. But went in for oil change and service writer told me he found a fix was a tsb they did a reprogram.Omg when I picked up the truck I was shocked how much louder and better the radio sounded almost like the pop kicked out the amp. So far all is great.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your F-150 concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

Update: I took the truck into Auto Nation in Frisco, TX. I started receiving messages "Remote features disabled to preserve battery" almost daily" Ford Tech tested battery, Ford replaced due to low voltage / failing load test. Possibly the system voltage was low causing the amplifier not to receive enough voltage which caused the popping sound when initially powering up. They also replaced windshield wiper motor - recall issue and inspected wiring harness on rear differential that was part of a recall as well. Hopefully no more battery messages or popping sounds from stereo.

This just started with my 22, scared the crap out of me with a loud Horn blast then the crackling sound from the speakers. Could not turn the radio off or on. Message cam on as shutting the vehicle to save the battery. Took for a 15 mile drive to see if it would go away which it didnt. This truck has to go, loved it when I first purchased it but it has so many gremlins in it, I may just go to a Ram.

Does anyone know if Ford has come up with any type of solution? I had this happen last night, my 3 year old son was in the back so I did not have time to take a video as I was trying to calm him down (he was scared to death as one would expect). Like everyone has said it happened as soon as I hit the vehicle start, I got a pop, then crackle, and then the static/jet engine noise at the loudest volume I have ever heard. The noise was so loud that even people around my truck in the parking lot could hear it. Radio was in stereo not in surround sound setting on the radio, but did not go into the settings (would not have thought that was a thing).
I tried pushing the power button on the radio (screen said audio off) - no change
tried volume down - No change
turned the truck off and opened the door/s - no change
After I opened the door and let the screen go dark on the radio (though no change to the sound) when I went to re-start the truck there would be a momentary silence thru the speakers, then right back to jet engine.
The only way I was able to get the noise to stop was to shut off the truck and let it go into battery save (15ish minutes with the key off).
This noise was so loud it has to have some safety implications... I know I am not the only person out there who has a toddler and infant that go in the truck.

Ford does have an update for the B&O system that the dealer has to update. They will likely want to charge you for it. I recommend contacting the official Ford Account on this thread and see if they can open a ticket for you and get them to cover it. I have not experienced the super loud popping noise for some time. I still get the occasional quite popping noise when turning the car on or off. I keep a 10mm combination wrench in the glove box just in case.

Thank you very much for the update. Does anyone happen to know the software version that needs to be updated? or is there a service bulletin number I can tell them? My truck is in the dealer today.

I thought there was an APIM update needed too, but of course I can’t find any info on it.

Might consider signing up for the Mongoose cable from the community and doing it yourself if the dealership doesn’t “help”.

Update: The dealer was able to update the ACM and reset the APIM. We will see if the update fully fixes the issue. But thank you for the the TSB info!

They needed to update the DSP....not the ACM. Message me the VIN so I can see what they did.

Well I had the boom static issue on startup happen today on my '22. It was loud enough to make me think the moonroof shattered but wasn't eardrum busting. Worst part is i couldn't find this thread fast enough to find what fuse to pull so it stopped by it's self but i still pulled fuse 23 for the first drive then reinstalled it. It didnt happen again but when i have to take the vehicle for the recalls it has i will have the dealer take a look at it and probably give them the tsb just in case.
