Again, I'm not really one to smack on the Pirell. I thought at ~13,000 miles they were still quiet and smooth.

But within 5 miles of driving away on the Michelins I felt like it was home sweet home.

My older brother says it this way: "There's just something about how they roll down the road"

They are confidence inspiring. A really good street tire without being so vulnerable if you do have to occasionally get dirty.

Michelin's are and always have been top notch tires. They are the only tire I'd ever put on the multiple different Benz's I've had over the years
I'm very tempted to throw a set on my truck when it's ready for new shoes
Honestly if I could justify it my head, I'd replace my tires every 10k miles, nothing changes the ride and drive of a vehicle more than some new rubber.

Snake, I was just looking on Tire Rack there's 6 different Michelin tire versions that fit our trucks in 20" which one's did you have installed? I'm thinking about going with a pure highway speed rated tire for summer. And then buying a set of take offs and mounting winter tires on those.

I’m the same with my Mercedes. I tried a set of Continentals on my S-Class a few years ago and they were rock hard and LOUD on the freeway. I lived with it for a couple years since I only put about 3k miles a year on that car, but I just swapped back to Michelins on that car and was amazed at the difference

I went with OEM size and weight rating (115T)

I always run the XLT M/S

I smiled and said "hang on for a second. Before you order that tire..."

I know a lot of people including @Snakebitten have strongly endorsed Michelin tires and I have run on only Michelins for the past 15 years..
My truck came with the Hancooks.. Can't wait to change them in another 20k miles!

The oem Hankooks ARE a premium tire though. And Ironically are a few bucks the most expensive of the 3.

For dry pavement, all 3 tires yield a nice ride when new or low mileage. But if I was a betting man, I bet they begin to separate themselves as the mileage piles on.
I never felt cheated for paying the premium for the Michelins by the time they were at 40,000 miles or more. That's when how well they wear/age starts to be revealed.

Have you considered Cooper Discoverer SRX or the AT3's? I've purchased two sets of the SRX's and 1 of the AT3's. Both are excellent in the rain and snow. I had them shiped from Tire Rack to the local Ford deaer and they install for just over $100.

I’m following this one closely. I already need to replace my Pirellis after 28k miles so no chance I’m going with those again. On top of not lasting, they were subpar in the snow and rain so I would also like something that is better in the poor conditions. My driving is 99% on road but would ideally like something a little more aggressive looking but don’t want to sacrifice more than a 1-2 mpg. The Pirelli’s looked like they a larger version of something that belonged on a Focus, not a truck. I wouldn’t mind jamming a slightly larger tire in there as long as I’m sure it won’t rub and really don’t want to get into leveling or lifting my PB.

I spent my entire Sunday morning reading the Factory Wheels with Aftermarket Tire Thread and I may have left it more confused than I went into this…

All those that drive in snow should ignore this old man's experiences and opinions on tires. (from above posts)

I've never driven in the stuff. Ever.

The Hankooks on mine treads don’t look like that picture :ROFLMAO:, and they do say AT2 on them

I have nothing but good things to say about Michelin. My 2023 STX came with the 20” magnetic pocket wheels which are wrapped in the Hankooks from the factory. The OEM hankooks are OK- but I wasn’t thrilled with them in the March snow storm we had. Pretty unconfident in the snow and they are quick to light up and spin in the rain with any throttle…maybe that’s the 5.0 and not the tires :). I’ll run them till they wear out but Michelin Defenders will replace them. They are very much a street/highway tire.

Really like those two-tone wheels on your STX. Kinda wish my Lariat Sport had them instead of the matte black/gunmetal wheels. Same tire, though. Not too many complaints on my end, but it was an unusually mild winter around here.

I've run both for decades, in harsh conditions.

I haven't come across a better tire for my uses, for the money.

If I still needed that type of tire, I wouldn't hesitate.

But this truck won't see such harsh service.

I spent most of yesterday studying tires.

Wrote this about a little of it.

Found a couple vids that were helpful too.

Speaking of the Coopers.

I found several of his vids to be pretty informative.

My salesman did tell me the optional STX wheels actually get a more premium tire than many of the upper trim trucks. I figured it was just sales jargon. It does make sense though, my wheels were a $1300 stand-alone option. They must use that extra cash and give you some better rubber. The 20” wheels on higher trucks are usually included and you don’t pony up for them like on an STX or XLT.
