I wonder if the motors are upsized due to the new running board length?

They go from front wheel to rear wheel now instead of just around the doors. Plus they have the kick button at the back.

Never thought of that. That would explain it

Let's add another insult to the lists of faults by Ford and their dealers. I gave the BlueBoost a quick cleaning the other day to take a couple of quick pictures for y'all and so my friends could see what a beautiful truck it is. I didn't detail it or anything, just a quick spritz. Fast forward to yesterday. My PPF guy calls exasperated. He's a wonderful fella and has a little bit of an accent. He's telling me he can't continue work on my truck until I come to the shop see what he has found. I walk in and the truck looks out of this world. I'm trying to figure out what he's talking about. He has polished the entire front end and removed all the water spots but has found two vertical dents and scratches in the lower passenger side fender. These dents had been accompanied by big surface scratches all over that he had successfully buffed out. These dents and scratches are side-by-side, 4 or 5 inches long and dented in enough that you can feel them. He then shows me all the other scratches and mars that are on my truck. I get my truck from his shop and get on down to the dealership. Where my salesman "can't feel the dents". I tell him that he's not being serious and take me to the person I can talk to. I ask him why all of this wasn't found in PDI? I will have the date for a service appointment and consultation with the collision department tomorrow.

I can't figure out how that many scratches can get on a truck that has spent most of it's life in a parking lot. I would show pictures but they wouldn't photograph. My technology isn't good enough and you just see reflections of my beautiful hands.

Yes the running boards do make a lot of noise. Something I can definitely live with. I’ve never had them before so I have no comparison. Otherwise the truck is very quiet
I kind of like the sound. a cool mechanical sound like the landing gear going up !

My wife calls BB the spaceship. She says it makes a bunch of weird noises.

So, just a few days left until the truck is said to be delivered. Received an update email that stated 2/26.
Good news, right?
On the way home in my wife's vehicle, the transmission started shifting strangely. Not wanting to go into 9th or 10th and hard down shifting around 4th (guesstimate). Smell of transmission fluid in the cab.
Cannot win for loosing sometimes.
Off to the dealer on Friday with her car.?

Omg. This is crazy. I hope it’s not major but that doesn’t sound good. Miles on it? Most manufacturers have longer power train warranties. Hope it goes well. I really hope your truck is there a little early. You definitely deserve it. You have been a trooper this whole time. Just want us my22 s home with there owners!

Thanks. 15 months seems like a long time, but it also passed quickly.
Her car has around 25k miles, so factory warranty. I also have one of those Flood Ford warranties to around 70k or 80k.
It is just the hassle of dealing with it and hoping they fix it the first time.
Apparently the 2020 explorers are having transmission issues and we get to be one of the lucky ones.

I told my wife that we would trade her Explorer in on my "new" 2022 and keep the 2017 F150. She works from home, so why does she need a vehicle? I can have both. ?

We also have a 2020 Explorer. I bet the transmission cooler cracked while you were driving, lost a bunch of fluid causing the trans to act up. I was lucky and caught ours leaking in the driveway. There was a design issue on the early ones on how the trans cooler was mounted or some bracket causing it to crack (or something like that). There is an updated part / design out for them now.

Good luck, hopefully it doesn’t need a new trans.

I am in the middle of a cross country road trip. drove across I40 during some wicked storms and actually needed to use 4A in Flagstaff around town. the boards didnt seem to be phased by the ice/snow. but I did turn off the auto fold on the mirrors as a precaution.

one thing I have learned is I must get the windows tinted ASAP upon return.
Smart move on the auto fold. Forgot to do that before the ice storm. They still work, but I was really concerned after the awful noise when frozen closed by the ice. I will not make that mistake again.

Good tip.
The auto fold is another feature I am looking forward to. I fold the mirrors on my current truck when I park it in the garage so it is easier to walk around. Sometimes I forget.

Well, pretty decent ice storm here in Michigan. I'm getting to try out the generator! Hot coffee, computer, phone charger and the frig are all running. I haven't installed the hook up to run the whole house, but extension cords are working just fine!

Pictures of your set up? Maybe some parts? I have selected a few things, but are interested in what is working.

That's crappy about the weather, but great about the truck. Be safe, be warm as you can.
