Apparently the '23 Lightnings & Super Duty have a feature called Pro Trailer Hitch Assist that automatically controls steering, throttle and brake inputs to make hitching trailers easier.

Requirements: Pro Trailer Backup Assist.

The following values should enable this but we would like to get feedback from guys with '21-'23s to see if it works with all the years. If so, then I will add it to the common spreadsheet

Pro Trailer Hitch Assist (Autohitch)
APIM 7D0-01-03 xxxx xx*x xx-- Autohitch
ABS 760-03-01 xx*x -- Autohitch (use 760-03-01 xxx* -- for Tremor/Raptor)
IPMA 706-01-01 xxxx xx*x xx-- ModuleFeatureCfg_AH

NOTE: use the corresponding spreadsheets to find your value where the * is above & reset the APIM module (FORScan wrench icon) after the change and clear any DTCs that may be present.

Pressing the center button on Pro Trailer Backup Assist should trigger an image with 2 buttons asking if a trailer connected Yes or No
If you hit No it will go into Hitch Assist and yes goes to the normal Pro Trailer Backup Assist

So, a month ago, I made these forscan changes to try to get Autohitch to work. In short, it didn’t work (it always gave me the orange field that others reported), but I never bothered to undo the edits in forscan.

Last week, @Jesse-Infotainment helped me to replace my ‘22 IPMA with a reprogrammed’21 IPMA to get Active Park Assist enabled (which worked). This afternoon, I had to move a trailer out of my garage to access some other things, and on a whim I tried to see if Autohitch would work now…and it did!

So, it looks like you need the Park Assist chip to make Autohitch work as well.

So much on these trucks. How can we tell if we have the Park Assist chip?

Interesting. I have full park assist and pro trailer etc on my truck. Maybe I should give it a go.

My window sticker says Active Park Assist 2.0.

I think another way to tell is if you have the sensors on the front bumper. Not sure if that guarantees it or not tho.

If you have the park assist button that does more than just find a parking area?

If I recall correctly, Park Assist came as part of the Active Co-Pilot 2.0 package in the 2021 and early part of the 2022 model year.

My window sticker had “active park assist delete.” It was built in September 2022. So I had to retrofit the proper components.

King Ranch, this thing has sensors everywhere. The reason I ask is that the option may be rolled up in a package and not listed separately. I'm still learning what all it has, but a screwed up knee and crappy weather has slowed down that process a lot!

You can have EVERY sensor and available feature on your truck and STILL be missing that chip in the IPMA, and your truck (window sticker) will list the Park Assist Delete.

So for that particular delete, the term "chip shortage" is/was legitimate.

While I didn't care enough about Park Assist to pony up for the missing chip, I might change my mind just to mess with the Hitch Assist. That's a cool party trick that I will show off to my brothers and dad. ?

I window sticker does NOT list Park Assist Delete, which makes me wonder if I have it. I need my knee fixed and some warm weather so I can tinker more!

I'm guessing if you DO have Park Assist, then you have the chip necessary for having Hitch Assist too.

Do you have Pro Trailer Backup?

Your signature block indicates a 2023 king ranch, so maybe not. I think the 2022 deletes carried over to the 2023 models, for the most part.

It is still possible to retrofit like I did, but it’s a good deal more difficult than if you have the chip from the beginning (mostly 2021 models).

To anyone that has enabled glare free headlights: Does this look right to you? I thought it eliminated auto high beam assist. I double checked that everything wrote to the modules correctly and since IPC changes were part of the mod, I figured I would see something different here. Going to go for a drive to test it out in an hour or so. Do I turn my high beams on, or should they be turning on by themselves if it's dark enough?

Yes, that’s what my dash looks like (well, without the fog lights, nor the 80 degree weather).

Note that when you push the stick, the manual high beams come on, and you’ll get the little blue high beam icon as well. If the glare-free is working correctly, you might have trouble seeing it activate. However, if you push the stick to manually turn on the high beams and nothing gets brighter, that’s a clue that it’s already engaged.

It helps to go out to a more rural area without street lights and only a few passing cars, and that will be the best chance to see it working. That, and when it’s on and you slow down to about 15, you can generally see it turn off.

Rural area and Miami are words that don't coincide with each other, but I do have that 80 degree weather in February. Lol

I'll go for a drive in a bit and see if I can coax it to come on.

Yeah, that’s why I said “it helps”, but it’s not necessary. Just avoid street lights, if possible.

And I don’t think that I answered your last question: you shouldn’t have to do anything special to turn it on. Just leave your lights set to “auto” and it’ll do its thing, the way that auto-brights used to. In fact, another clue that it’s working is if you are in a spot where you would expect to have the auto-brights engage and they don’t, it’s probably working. Those were much more obvious when they turn off and on.
