Anyone have experience with changing their order prior to being scheduled to be built? Yesterday I changed my Lariat Trim to Platinum Trim, but was able to keep the same original order date. The switch was due to some constraints and once that occurred I just went in a different direction. Dealer says the order was accepted, but no email update, is that sound right?
Yes... in your case. You can change your order and your dealership can submit changes for you up until your vehicle is scheduled for production.

For me it was a no brainer. With the options I wanted, 4x4, PB and 7.2 generator and other options apples to apples with the Lariat, the Plat was slightly cheaper once all was said and done, plus came standard with the deployable power boards, wood trim and better rear shocks. Most people who get the Plat want the multi seats. The removal wasn't a deal killer for me.

I haven't reached out to Granger yet, but will share any quote I do get. Dealers here in NJ are pretty much at msrp. The dealer I'm doing business with is mile from my home and have been great, not sure great enough to give them an extra 4k if I can save it by going out of state. I have to take into consideration the cost of traveling to Iowa and back. Also hate to say it, but not sure I'm comfortable taking any new vehicle for a approx: 1300 mile first trip.

I live in Commiefornia and Granger is worth it for me, even with the air travel. Many dealers here are over MSRP, so figure I'm netting between 6K-8K when all is said and done.

So prior to reaching out to Granger I did some more online searching. Found a Platinum in Florida, identical to what I wanted. Reached out to them via e-mail, then I saw where they were only selling and registering in Florida. Got a call this morning, thinking it was going to be bad news, that the truck is available and that the GM had suspended that rule. After some back and forth I purchased the truck from them, even saved some money since here in NJ they are asking msrp. The truck is being delivered on 12/22 to the dealer. I made a huge mistake when I sold my 2010 Tundra prior to getting the new truck(it sold in 2 days privately). I can't stand driving around my sons small car. Not thrilled about a long, first , ride, but who knows when I would get a truck from my local dealer. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

I noticed yours did not have the heated steering wheel removal. Did you get it?

Well, just got some bad news from my local dealer. BAP is on constraint with slim chance of getting it anytime soon.
First I'm hearing of this. My XLT BAP is currently scheduled for production the week of 1/16.

Unfortunately I think my local dealer was taking on too many orders in relation to his allotment. Not knowing at the time to ask the question. In his defense he did say 6-8 months. Heated steering wheel was removed when placing the order, it’s been a constraint for a while and the dealer said the company making them for Ford went out of business.

Another mistake I made was to include accessories like rear wheel well liners, which in my opinion should come with the truck, rear hard cover, and spray on liner. All three are on constraint, or so says my dealer. Except for the liners these are easily available after delivery. I purchased a truck from Florida and the majority of trucks listed on their site, Parks Ford, are dealer ordered. Except for rear wheel liners the other accessories were available next day from the dealer parts dept.

My Platinum was built on 11/6 and released off of chip hold 11/18 (Built). It was also ordered with wheel well liners and the 1200.00 hard tonneau cover. Spray in liner is being done at the dealership after delivery. I must have got lucky, at least with the build. Shipping...not so much

Im going through the same with delivery. It was suppose to be delivered today, now they are saying the 26th. Doesn't really matter to me since airfares will be cheaper after the Holidays, then it's onto the auto train for the ride home. I'm sure this pending weather isn't helping.
