Wow.

I know I rag on the dealerships enough already, but this is why I won't even let them rotate my tires.

There's likely one or two fellas behind the veil (the service writers desk) that are true professionals. But they aren't going to be doing the maintenance type tasks, so.........

Simply amazing
Finding the ‘add a service record’ thing in owners.Ford.com made my day

I still cringe when anyone digs into an engine on any of of vehicles for warranty reasons.. although I have to say so far no issues with my dealership I’ve bought multiple fords from

New disk brakes.

Try go get a free one year bumper to bumper warranty/coverage in case something else pops out months from now.
I would call Ford. I had my old F250 in for maintenance/warranty work about a year and a half ago. It had a rear main seal leak. They claimed it was the torque converter. I have no clue how that would be the issue (pretty sure it wasn't). I figured whatever let them make their money and get my truck fixed. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed it had it been the torque converter.

They had it for over a month and I started raising hell. They blamed covid and I called b.s. and asked what part number they ordered. It was for a Ford Flex. I looked up the part number on Fordparts.com and showed several in stock at local dealers. They said they couldn't get them. They acted like I pulled a magic rabbit out of my hat when I gave them the part number.

I called ford and they expedited it and made it happen. They were supposed to replace my screen/turbo cold hose at the same time. They did not. I relayed this info to Ford.

They wound up extending my warranty an additional 3yr/36K on top of what was left.

This thread has become a lot more than I thought it would. The empathy, similar stories, and light-hearted jokes have been refreshing to read (loved the front fell off video @Severdog, and don't think for a second that I didn't do a little truck shopping @HCFX! Man have prices gone up! Almost $5k on the base price from when I purchased in 2/21. I was quickly dissuaded when I saw that and current loan rates which have apparently doubled). I appreciate the advice that has been provided as well. Thank you!

I spoke to the service manager this morning and, mechanically, it sounds like all the parts are in and would be put back together today. Just waiting on the quarter panel due to arrive tomorrow, then body work and paint. I'm expecting a call tomorrow with an update, but ETA was initially stated as Tuesday next week (just, wow! if that's the case). Regarding the deep sleep, they said they would put the battery through a test to verify it's healthy. The FordPass app appears to be reconnected and reporting door/hood alerts and the location. It appears to be at the body shop as of this post. I've gotta say I'm impressed with the effort the dealership has put forth to rectify the situation. I did provide my info to Ford but made clear I'm not looking to get anybody in trouble as the dealer is owning the situation and making it right. Ford was kind enough to let me know I had an open recall, which I was aware of and is only open because the wiper motor parts are not available... I was expecting a little more honestly. Like an extension of the warranty for the replaced parts in case anything pops up down the road that might've been missed as a result of the incident. Or crediting back the FordPass points that were used for the oil change to account for my time and inconvenience. I asked, we'll see what they say.

NY is a diminished value state, I believe. You likely have a claim. This may show up on a CarFax, it's no longer the OEM panel, the paint is no longer OEM paint and will age differently. Likely have a claim for ~$2-3K. https://www.dvcheck.com/diminished-value-claim/new-york

The only thing I would be concerned with, is whether or not this shows up on your Carfax. If it does, it will reduce the value of the vehicle when it’s time to sell. The dealership should compensate you for that diminished value.

I appreciate all the empathy. I'm going to call today and get an ETA and add your suggestions to the list of things to check/replace. I did get a look at the wheel studs and they looked unscathed, although I did see some thread fragments that must've pulled out of the lugs so those should also be replaced.

On a related note, is it normal for the truck to enter "Deep Sleep Mode" when in for service? I received an alert in my FordPass app. I looked up the requirements for the mode and while I have parked in the cold (-30F) for several hours while snowmobiling, I have never seen this notification before. Is there enough residual juice in the connectivity module to send out this alert if they disconnected the battery? It triggers at 9.5V, that's a pretty dead battery and at risk of heavy sulfation and reduced capacity.
I just got a deep sleep mode on my FordPass App too! It's in for service to add a few extra dealer installed items. I thought the deep sleep mode was only for PowerBoost trucks, not EcoBoost.

I was driven this morning to the dealership from the bodyshop that put the Line-X bed liner in so I could not imagine the battery being low. The difference between the two locations is about 5 miles.

I wonder if there’s a secret way for deep sleep mode to be enabled by dealerships other than the battery being below 9.5 volts or the truck not being used for 14 consecutive days? Someone with the factory service manual might be able to check to see if such a thing exists.

It could be for preventing remote start being used from the Fordpass app while the truck is being repaired or stored overnight inside.

Or like the OP suggested, it’s some capacitor somewhere with enough residual juice to send the signal off after the battery is disconnected.

Disabling ford pass functions while it’s in for service seems logical. Probably not ideal if it were to be accidentally remote started or perform a scheduled start while it’s in the garage being worked on.

So this happened today. The truck was in for a routine oil change and for the underbody insulator recall. As I was pulling out of the dealer lot the front wheel came off and rolled out into the ditch. The front quarter panel landed on the tire and got a bent up into the A-pillar which nicked the paint. The wheel sustained some damage from the bolt at the bottom of the lower control arm so that is getting replaced along with the lower control arm (which you can see ground into the pavement) and the quarter panel. As they pulled it into the garage the rear wheel was also ejecting lug nuts onto the floor, so those weren't tightened either. Aside from the rim, lower control arm, and quarter panel, is there anything else I should be concerned with and have replaced? Are the wheels hub or lug centric? I'm wondering if any damage was sustained to the rear wheel while it wasn't tight and potentially caused issues with it that will result in excessive vibration later on. If hub centric, maybe not a big deal.
kinda like Ron White said"evidently that technician missed LUG NUT day at tire changing school" Anyway Im sorry that happend to you .Hopefully the dealership will do the righ thing and repair it all to your satisfaction. Good luck my friend

Just bought a new set of tires for my flatbed.
A couple days later, I toting a 73 Chev Kingswood Estate on the trailer and a wheel passes me by before drifting across the street and hitting a fence.
(for those in Phoenix, this was at 35ave and Bell Rd)
Happened to be my left rear trailer tire and it beat the crap out of the tail end of the trailer.
Stopped to collect my wheel/tire assembly and continued on to Discount tire at 43rd and Bell. ( this is where I bought the tires and had them installed)
New tire and a call to corporate for damage claims.
Tire installer drags jack out to trailer, jacks it up, places the wheel on the hub and then asked me for the lug nuts!!!.
If I HAD the lug nuts, I would not be there in the first place.

I'm so sorry to hear this happened. I've never experienced this myself, but I bring new vehicles to a dealer because I assume they know my vehicle best and able to attrack better talent because they can pay more and offer benefits because I'm paying more. I'm starting to wonder if my thoughts are flawed. Anyone, again, I'm sorry. Below is a link to a Ron White clip I'm hoping will make you smile and look back with thoughts that at least no one was hurt. Take care and Merry Christmas!

Along with anything that has been damaged/scratched you mentioned.
New rims (2) as no doubt they have been damaged by wobbling on the studs...it doesn't matter if they are still usable you didn't buy usable wheels they were new until they messed up.
All studs and lug nuts as no doubt there is at least some damage to the studs and you can't be sure the beginning threads on the lug nuts haven't been stressed/damaged. Was the inner fender damaged when the tire bent the outer fender?
Unfortunately so much more out of sight could've been tweaked. Sheetmetal wasn't designed to have the weight of the truck dropped on it.
I'd push for some more compensation...as others mentioned a good extended warranty is a good choice. You may not get it but it doesn't hurt to push.
