As they say, The truth is stranger than fiction.I have seen a lot of vins. There are many that have had great success. I can tell you there are equally as many that haven’t. I think it relates to the battery issues.
They installed different batteries in different trims. Trying to save Pennie’s for some reason rather than just installing the biggest in all trucks.
There also was a batch of batteries that had issues with their ability to hold up to the demands of the OTA and most failed due to that. So had ford had good batteries from the beginning we probably would have seen much better success. Ford still refuses to replace batteries they know are bad
I bet you are absolutely correct and that some percentage, and likely a significant percentage, of OTA failures will be for exactly what you suspect. What a difference a half a volt makes with this stuff!
11.9v is WAY different than 12.4
