Ford F-150 enable BlueCruise Screenshot_20220806-140437_Facebook

hey guys,
I have a 2021 F150 it is a reg cab short bed 5.0 V8 fx4 XLT with the co-pilot assist 2.0, adaptive cruise and 360 degree cameras along with all other options that were available except the snow plow prep package. i have been doing some research on the Forscan application to unlock a few other options in my truck and have not been able to find any answers stating if Forscan would be able to enable BlueCruise on my truck. as far as i can tell my truck has all the required sensors and cameras. i was wondering if anyone else has looked into this and seen if it is even possible?

Your truck is missing a few things that blue cruise trucks have unless you added them yourself. Main one being the driver alertness parts in the dash/a-pilar. And I think a more advanced ipma for the camera system. And you probably also don’t have the corner mounted sensors that match the rear blind spot sensors that are likely there for the futuse lane change option that will be out a some point.

^^^ This

It's doable, of course. But it's not just plug&play.

Honestly, if I were you I would make an effort to go experience Bluecruise on a road that you have driven your truck with using Lane Keeping/Adaptive Cruise and then ask yourself just how much different is the experience and do you want it bad enough.

Don't get me wrong..... I have it in my 2022 and if I were to order the truck again I would still order Bluecruise. But if I didn't have the hands free but did have everything else associated with Adaptive Cruise, I would not fret about it. Or put another way, I still don't take my hands off the wheel during Bluecruise. So...... Am I really Bluecruising in the strictest sense?

As for the annoying "Keep your hands on the wheel"?

Wait until you experience the Bluecruise nanny!

As Snakebitten mentioned his report is spot on. Additionally, depending on the roads around your area, it only works on Fords mapped roads. And using my trucks BC it disconnects in heavy rain, fog , when road markings aren’t clear , and I assume will do the same in snow, when that arrives here in month of so.

I would pay someone to disable this feature for me. My hands ARE on the wheel. Leave me alone.
In order for it to believe your hands are on the wheel it needs to feel movement or resistance on the steering wheel. I have used my leg if my hands were busy, lol. May check forscan for a way to disable that alert.

I saw where someone added a 3lb ankle weight on the lower right side of the steering wheel which mimicked having some torque on the wheel, fooling the wheel sensor into thinking you had your hand on the wheel. He did this with a video driving on a straight road, possible an interstate, which he had no chimes to put your hands on the wheel. I have bluecruise, but curious to try this nevertheless just to see if it works. I got a message saying my bluecruise expires December 31st, this year. It's an in expensive way to fool the system, and since the steering is electronic, it should work the same way. Try it and let us know!

It does work well. Here's the thread:

Some call it "Ghetto BlueCruise", but I like to think of it as "BlueCruise On Demand".
