Good Afternoon
just looking to see if any body else has farm bureau insurance for both home and vehicles
we have had Farm Bureau since 2009
we just got our renewal for house (oct to oct) and vehicle oct 2022 to apr 2023

of course i am calling around to see if any other carriers can beat or match my level of coverage's and services, i usually find they cannot but still inquiries are made.

House insurance increased 8 % over last years term, or 109 over last years 12 month policy, of course property valuation went up 32,600 (8%) over last year, and this drives all the deductibles and liability etc. I am ok with that.
Vehicles(3) increased 9% or 76 dollars over a 6 month term compared to last term that began april 2022. . no tickets since 2010
zero claims for at fault wrecks as well since 2009

my question , is are yall seeing similar increases with your insurance providers as well?
thank you
have a great weekend

We use Travelers for home and auto. Auto went up 24% in Jan 2022 from Dec 2021 but nothing since. We only had one vehicle at that time so the increase didn't hit us too hard at the time. I just added the new truck with full coverage and pay $188/month for it. No tickets or accidents. I live in Dallas which likely doesn't help my rate at all.

I have Allstate and they had a pretty big increase. Insurance is not a good subject in my house with two boys of age 18 and 20 and 4 autos. Let's just say I would love for only $188 a month.

the 2022 king ranch is 548 per 6 months,(91 month) its 4 dollars less than the 21 250 it replaced in april. thought i would get more discounts with all the safety stuff on it, i need to make sure that was counted.

we dont carry a balance on it, so it we get a few bucks off for that, but not enough to worry

we carry full coverage on all three vehicles, because....well we have to go to dallas and austin and tyler and people drive different ? ?
thanks all

When working out my expenses for my last truck, I spent more money on insurance than fuel and depreciation combined!

Arizona has this crazy law, where if you have a $40,000 certificate of deposit or some jazz with the state treasurer; you’re exempt from carrying insurance. I have yet to meet anyone that has made use of it but if they don’t change the amount and the “i-word” gets worse, it could almost make sense.

that is crazy.. 40k on deposit wont cover much in regards to medical or even a total of the f150.

i like farm bureau, both wrecks ( not my fault) they took care of everything and i never had to deal with the other persons insurance, farm bureau did all that legal stuff and got my trucks fixed and back to me in quick time. plus refund of deductibles. no waiting on other guys to get his insurance to get my truck to the shop, .

My insurance goes up every renewal and I haven't had a claim in over 20 years.

Don't feel bad. Here in FL home insurance companies are either failing or running to leave the state in record numbers. Some people pay as much as 10k a year in homeowners ins (where they were paying as little as $2k only 5-6 years ago). Many have had premiums double or more year over year.

Our insurance company just said a week ago they are leaving and we won't know if we can do find insurance as of Feb (obviously we have already started looking, but happen to STILL be dealing with a flood claim from Dec '21 so can't leave our current company). That same company is also pulling out of Texas, Louisiana and New York, BTW (UPC for those interested).

It's so bad that we are highly considering just paying off the house and going sans insurance or just liability ins (if that's a thing) depending on the rates we get back. We were paying about 1800/ year and that was a great rate, but we likely won't be able to find a new company to match it.

Of course there is our state run ins company that is handling way more customers than it was ever designed to do and likely will fail if we get another hurricane.

So.. 8%? ..... I'd be fine with 8% at this point ?

Florida is a shit show. If your roof is over 10 years old, it is hard to get new insurance. We were just required to replace our 15 year old roof, not because there was any issue with it, but because no insurance company would pick us up. That was a nice 17k out of pocket expense. We finally got coverage through State Farm for about $2k per year. For auto insurance, we use Progressive and they just raised us about $200 for the new 6mo policy and they said it was due to rising costs for replacement parts and medical. In FL, drivers are not required to carry bodily injury and over 20% of drivers don't have any coverage. We were rear ended last month and the other driver didn't have coverage, so we are having to pay for medical from our policy. Luckily it wasn't that serious, but not all the bills have come in. I have a coworker who I just found out that her husband was in an accident and the other driver didn't have any coverage. They maxed our their own policy for medical and now it's coming out of their pockets since the at fault driver has no assets. We've generally carried the minimum coverage for PIP and UM, but now we're going to be increasing it due to this experience. PSA: Increase your UM and PIP coverage if you live in FL, you can never have enough.

Shop around. I experienced a big jump with USAA this year, but I’m sticking with them for now. Check out Hochheim Prairie for another farm mutual worth considering.

we lived in florida from 83 to 2004 . had allstate the whole time. every year it got more and more $$, when we moved to Pensacola it tripled for house and car. we had allstate in texas our first few years when we moved back and the rate were off the moon high.
uninsured drivers IMO are a big problem with rates and the every rising rates for autos.
IMO if those drivers had no vehicles (impounded) when they get caught. FL used to have a thing with the DL office if your insurance lapsed they would suspend your DL. is that still happening

our roof is 17 and is Metal, i still get a roof discount for metal, but in next 2 years to keep it i will have to have it replaced. OMG ..i was going to buy the materials during lock down as prices had fallen and then get it put on this year. BUT nooooo i procrastinated
good thing is its still in excellent condition and the metal guy can pull the screws and lay new over the old. new screws and some color change on trim and we are good
USAA is no bueno for me, they screwed my kid over really bad in a divorce.

i am amazed at how different each state is in regards to coverage's and rates
thanks yall

Why would you need to replace a metal roof at 19 years?!?? Shouldn't that be a 40-50 year roof? Or is that just to keep the discount? Even still that is ridiculous!

We are going for metal just because I expect it to either outlive me at this point or at least outlive my time in this house.

What worries me is that new FL laws say that insurance companies can start questioning your oof life at 15 years, which for asphalt makes sense. I don't want to have to go through roof inspections yearly after 25vyears for my 40-50 year roof.

Honestly the law should have been written as % of expected life, but nothing can be done right now.

As to the insurance and losing your license, yes, as long as you have a car registered in your name that should happen. I've had friends and family where they just changed agents and due to paperwork mishaps has their license suspended (easily fixed with a trip to the DMV).

I have a feeling though that if you are ok driving without insurance, you give too shits if your license is suspended or not ☹

Just to clarify, in FL, you have to carry property damage liability and PIP, but don't have to carry bodily injury liability. So the insurance for person that rear ended us fixed our van, we are on our own for medical, which is BS.
