Just curious, why the switch to the lower trims? Just saving a little coin?

I wish there was some more transparency from Ford. I have a January order which I changed from a Lariat to an XL at the beginning of April. I was hoping this would speed up my build process to get the truck faster but I'm wondering if this got me stuck now with an April order date instead.
I also changed my 502a order to an XLT 302a right before the April price increases. From what I understood since Chip was able to keep my original order code/sales code my place in line (ordered 12/24) remained the same but my priority was dropped from 2 to 10 which was needed to make the changes. So I want to say you would have kept your place in line just at a lower priority. I think I heard Ford scheduled more higher trims lately and not many lower trims so that may be why you I haven't been picked up.

For me I just decided I would be fine saving 8 grand and not having the features the higher trims come with. I also want to do some modifications to make the truck exactly what I want and having that extra cash lets me do it. If I went with the higher trim I probably would've waited a year or two to get the truck to what I want.

I appreciate the information Zach, very insightful.

Question I have is, considering I have a 2.7 EB 4x2 on order with Granger that it is impossible to remove the Auto Start/Stop, is it unlikely that my truck will be built any time soon?

I am asking as I may consider changing to 4x4 and removing Auto Start/Stop if that was the case to get my truck earlier.

I placed my order on 12/20 for a 4x2 with the 3.5L. Like you, I couldn't delete the auto start/stop and I do believe that is what is holding up my order. If I could switch to a 4x4 I would in a heartbeat.

I was going to have just the truck but it was taking so long so I accepted delivery of the Model Y I had been delaying and delaying. Hence I don't really need a fancy truck and rather get the basic one. Kind of a crazy match up an XL F-150 and a Model Y but it works for me.

@Granger Ford Can things like the auto 4WD transfer case from Lariats and up and/or the Torsen front diff from the Tremor be added to an order ala carte?

I ask because I would if I could I suppose but I always hear stories about the old muscle car days when you hear things like "So and so ordered a base model Mustang but optioned it with a big block, 4 speed, and a posi."

I was just wondering if things like that could still happen today.

I can answer that, big fat no. You can’t even get the 4A/HighLock (different than Lariat+)transfer case on anything but the High trim Tremor. And Torsen is only for Raptor/Tremor.

I don't believe so (can upgrade axle options sometimes but never seen a TC change), but many have after delivery ordered a 4A transfer case and/or there's a tread of people swapping the hi-loc mechanical 4A from the Raptor into other models.

Here is a link to a lengthy thread on the other forum talking about installing the TOD cases in other models and the differences in what's available-

The upgrade threads led me to ask. The Torsen is no longer available as a part to buy on your own (I assume because of the need for Ford to use them for new builds). I've also seen people comment that dealerships will not do the installs either. I'm sure that depends on the dealer but I figured it'd be ideal to just option those parts from the assembly process.

There’s a good YouTube video of a guy swoppi g to the high lock case. Just not available from Factory except on Raptor and Tremor 402A.

when you say axle upgrade you just mean change gear ratio/rear locker?
Yes that is mostly what I'm referring to- ford will let you option the rear ratio / locker. With some options/packages you actually get an upgraded rear axle (max tow & PB that I'm aware of) outside of the ratio/locker change.

They do have weird restrictions though. Like I think you can’t get a 3.73 with the 3.5 unless you get the tremor. But I think you can get it with the Powerboost or 5.0, 2.7.

You can get a 3.5EB with the 3.73 gears, but only on a HDPP (301A and lower).

The Powerboost comes exclusively with the 3.73, my guess is that is to improve low end delivery of the battery to allow for electric launches when not mashing the pedal.

The 5.0 & 2.7 can be optioned with 3.31, 3.55, or 3.73 depending on the configuration.

Unfortunately, yes it is unlikely you will not see your truck anytime soon. Also, when you change the engine, powertrain, etc you will lose your price protection as well.

Zach, Can't you folks just give the out-of state buyer a temp/transit tag along with the original Certificate of Origin for a New Vehicle?
The biggest reason we do not give out the original Certificate of Origin is because customers could sell that vehicle as a new vehicle. This would in return take away our rebates and Ford would fine us once they found out.
