Truck Delivered with Dirty Undercarriage and Rust

Spoke to the salesman, and he asked me to send him pics. After receiving the pics, he called me to apologize for the mess inside the doorjambs and sills, etc. He said the underbody is "typical" and "what you'd expect". I know this is not the case, but arguing about it over the phone won't get me anywhere. He offered a thorough detail if I should be in the area anytime soon, but that's unlikely to happen, so I guess I'll be biting the bullet and having it cleaned up locally.

I am still thinking about going full Karen and registering a complaint with Ford Customer Service so at least it's on file, if nothing else.

You all have seen where some of those trucks were stored waiting on chips right? My truck was dirty. My truck had surface rust on unpainted surfaces. Honestly do some of you live on a different planet than the rest of the population? Seriously dirt washes off and bare metal rusts. It's been that way for years. Babies are being bombed in Europe and we complain about the dumbest shit.

I agree with all the previous comments here about it being unacceptable

My recommendation would be, take the free detail. Register a complaint with Ford and push for a couple of free oil changes. However, try and get over it as quickly as possible (as it’s all cosmetic) so you enjoy your new truck.

Wow. Mine is overall clean and pretty, the back of the diff and axle housings are spotless. But while I was installing my step bars last evening, I noticed the front of the diff and rear u-joint looked rusty. And I found a spot on the frame where the paint had been scraped clean like it had been dropped on something. The latter is easy enough to clean and paint, but the u-joint might not appreciate any paint.

Oh, and those FX4 skid plates totally miss the PowerBoost exhaust heat exchanger that folk complain about leaks from. Be a very bad place for a stray rock to hit!

Such crap that it's "normal." My 21 F150 had the surface rust and that was pretty disappointing. Prior to that I had a 21 Tundra TRD pro i picked up new. So clean you could eat off it.

My 2015 GMC Canyon was the same way when I drove it off the lot. And it's still cleaner than my brand new F150.

This is my fourth new Ford truck. None of my former Ford trucks were rusty. My current F150 was as rusty as yours. Unacceptable sloppy work by Ford. The fanboys will tell you rust on your truck is okay.. Ford and the dealer will do nothing. Welcome to the new normal.

Sorry to hear you were in the same boat, but I love your avatar...haha.

I drive by a dealer every morning on my way to work and stopped by this morning to do some recon. They have two XLTs, one is a PowerBoost. Also one STX and one Lariat EcoBoost. The PowerBoost looked liked it had been professionally undercoated...it was pristine. The other three all had some slight rust but were at least clean, as you'd expect from a new vehicle.
