- 2022 F-150
Tow limits will be individually established by actual configuration. However, Ford’s max tow ratings are advertised by model/engine/etc. in the F-150 Technical Specifications sheet.Ordered my 2022 XLT FX4 in Nov. My dealer did not know any answers about towing options. Had to research on my own and then teach him. For my order the Tow Tech Pkg included the 360 cameras. If you ordered the Max Tow Pkg, then the cameras were $880 extra. See this table from Ford that I finally found to help compare things side by side. But with all the parts shortages and delays, this table could already be obsolete. But yes, if you tow more than 7-8,000lbs, then the Max Tow is needed. my max trailer is under 6000, so I just saved the money.![]()
Additionally, in the RV & Trailer Guide, for F-150s without Trailer Tow package (53A) and without Max Trailer Tow package (53C), Ford advertises a maximum tow of 7k lbs. That number increases significantly for the Trailer Tow package (53A) and even further for the Max Trailer Tow package (53C). Per the Technical Specs sheet (2021), PowerBoost w/ Trailer Tow: 11k-lbs; Max Trailer Tow: 12.4K-lbs. In all honesty, though, if you’re pulling 10k-lbs, you should be driving a SuperDuty instead.
Furthermore, depending on what you’re pulling, you may hit a payload limit even earlier due to tongue weight. It simply isn’t true that you need the Max Trailer Tow package to pull more than 7-8k lbs.
To my previous point, the Max Trailer Tow package doesn’t get you much more in a PowerBoost that isn’t already included with just the Trailer Tow package.
