Automatic Power Deploying Running Board Failure

Has anyone else had a problem with their power running boards? My 2021 F150 KR Powerboost has been in the shop a total of 6.5 weeks and counting. I have put as many miles (2,000) on the dealership loaner vehicle as I got to put on my new truck before it went in the shop for second time 6 weeks ago. They reprogrammed then reinstalled all the software programs in the truck. Didn’t work so they were told by FOMOCO to replace the running board control module. They did but it wouldn’t work still so they were told my FOMOCO that they needed to reprogram the module. But it turns out FOMOCO doesn’t have that programmming available for Ford dealer service centers to perform or install so my truck has been sitting in a back lot waiting for FOMOCO to “figure this out” for weeks. They have no idea how long this will go on. I think they should just buy the truck back from me. The dealership is great. It’s FOMOCO who is messing me over. I’ve owned 5 Ford trucks in my life and never have had this type of unresolvable issue. I drove a 2017 F150 KR EB for 5 years and never had any issues. What happened to you Ford?????

You’re (Ford Motor Company) already on the case and all you do is have a lady call me every day or two and tell me they don’t know anything “yet”…going on 7 weeks now. And she leaves her phone number and extension for me and tells me to call her back…but NEVER answers the phone and her voicemail box is full so I can’t leave a message.

Has now been 8.5 weeks and FoMoCo rep called me yesterday and said after they replaced the running board control module and then (4 weeks later) figured out how to program the control module and performed the FoMoCo recommended programming, the running board still does not work. They didn't have a "next step" to offer but did offer to reimburse me for one of my truck payments...The truck I have not seen in over two months now. I appreciate Ford doing that and hope to have my truck back in NEW WORKING CONDITION soon. The dealership did offer to put me into/trade into a 2021 Ford Raptor that is "In Production". I will probably take them up on that if white truck running board is still not working. The Raptor has been "in Production" since 10/25/21 and does not show an estimated completion date...so.... we'll see.

Hey Ford, could you also do the right thing and make an official announcement regarding customers who have been waiting for blue cruise?

We want to know OFFICIALLY:
-do we need new hardware or is the pre package we paid for sufficient?
-why isn’t the software being sent over the air or at least installed by dealers to those who’ve been patiently waiting?
-when will paying customers who were promised q3 bluecruise receive it?

I’m sure you see all the frustration across the many forums - please do the right thing and address all three of the above questions.

That really sucks. I cant even imagine having my truck tied up for that long. Ford definitely dropped the ball on your and many other vehicles. Makes me believe that they didnt do their homework before releasing all that new technology in 2021 and should have waited till they got all their ducks in a row.

These 21 f150 are worrisome quality .mine has several problems. Some w sync4. Screen shows double images. Sometimes i turn off emergency brake but light stays on and car says check brakes and brake light stays on . Worst of it is generator doesnt work if rain or car is washed . Might work if dry for several days . Number 1 reason i bought this truck was generator. I think im done with Ford after this my fifth ford in 10 years for my family . Ford woukd not offer me any compensation for this 73,000 dollar error ridden truck that is as yet unfixable but ive put down 40,000 and have not missed a payment. FORD says its software and uodates in april 2022 might be able to address this . WHAT THE HEC KIND OF SOFTWARE GETS WET FORD. MOTOR COMPANY. ???

My running board problem was finally fixed. My wireless car play still won’t work with my iPhone I thought it was my phone so I bought a new one but it still won’t work. It will work with my sons phone which means there is something in iOS that isn’t working with sync4. FORD AND APPLE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER ON THIS! My blue tooth will randomly turn off (no, not when I plug in the phone). I just plug my phone in every time I get in now so I don’t have to forfeit handsfree talking after one phone call. Kinda sucks since I was looking forward to not having that wire hanging out all the time. I too get the double image on screen sometimes. ARE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUPPOSED TO WIPE ONCE EVERY TIME I START THE TRUCK? (no that is. Or what “courtesy wipe” means…not according to ford’s definition). I too had been loyal to ford…4 fords in the last 10 years, 7 in my lifetime. I have not tried to use the generator yet…my dealer offered me the last Raptor of the 2021 year that they were getting and I’m taking it. It arrives in 2 weeks. I’m getting away from this Powerboost. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with the Raptor.

I had power running board issues on my driver size. They replaced the motor and it seems to have solved the issue.

Great that your dealer has another truck for you. Are you taking any loss on the switch?
Very small loss. Almost even trade. Decided not to fight over it. I still may shop my ‘21 around and see if another dealer will buy it from me outright for more

Brother 6 weeks is way too much time. Sucks to hear you cant enjoy your new truck and hard earned money.
I was able to lemon mine a few years back ( 2015) after 4 weeks in shop for multiple issue.
I'm in Ca and just called BBB and had them open case. Within 5 weeks, I had a check in my hand for all my payments/down.

Mine are working smoothly for months now after motor replacement. No issues.
