Yeh I probably like the new Fords for all the wrong reasons:
1- The technology...currently driving a 21 or 22 Ram 1500 rental and tech is sooo far behind.

2- The MPG

3- Did I say technology ? ...lol

Not to change topic much, but anyone here planning on getting the Lightning? I think when I pick up, I will try and pre order if it's an option.

Considered it, we reserved one during the announcement, still need to get our money back from that.

My partner wanted it so bad over the ICE F150 but once I got the full specs and put it in EV trip planning calculators, many of the places we would want to go with our trailer would be basically impossible unless we wanted to bring along a huge generator to charge back up and get us out of the boondocking spots. Literally can not make the trips to some of our favorite spots because there are no chargers. And to some of the others we could do, it's with hours and hours of charging time because even moderately fast chargers are not available on any of the routes. Not to mention all the fuss with chargers not being set up as pull-thrus yet.

The Lightning perfect for a lot of people, but not for someone who is getting a truck purely because they need to tow, especially long distances. The technology and charging infrastructure just isn't quite there yet for that use. It will get there, but until then I'm waiting. If Ford makes that toolbox EV range extender they patented a year or two ago, then I would jump on it because it would solve the towing problem easily. Use it when you need to tow, otherwise reap the benefits of an EV.

ICE stands for Internal Combustion Engine. Basically, the "normal" F150. As opposed to the BEV F150 Lightning (BEV meaning Battery Electric Vehicle).

I don't know which model you have but I have 21 Ram 1500 limited which has head up display, rear view camera in my rear-view mirror, both are very good options. Ford does not offer any of these two. Did I mention Air suspension?

New F150 has much better seats then any vehicle I own/owned.

Don't forget, in colder climate range drops significantly. Just picked up Mach-E last week, in colder eastern climate range is only 151 miles, means you will be looking for a charger every 100 miles.

That's what started this whole fiasco for me... I preordered a lightning in October and when I realized that it wasn't going to come any time in the next 24 months, the light bulb in my head went off and I started kicking around the Powerboost idea. Long story short, here I am today waiting for my PB.

Depending on range, charge time and the overall cost, I may or may not go for the Lightning. An extra 10k for the ER battery just to eek out 300 miles isn't all that appealing to me. For 99 percent of the driving and running around that I do, a standard lightning would probably be just fine but I just don't want to limit myself to the local lakes come boating season. We usually try to rent a travel trailer and get away for a few days in the summer, I have a feeling that a Lightning could complicate that yearly event.

I'm holding on to my reservation for now until I start getting some actual owner feedback.

I like the idea of never going to the pump, plugging in every evening and essentially having a full tank when I wake up. I drove a friends Tesla Model 3 earlier this year and was hooked, EVs offer a significantly different experience than an internal combustion engine does. I became so excited the technology that I went and bought myself an electric lawn mower, trimmer and blower lol.

I think there are going to be some draw backs but also some positives. It's ultimately going to be up to the customer as to whether or not an EV is a good fit for their lifestyle. I'm going to sit on the sidelines for a bit and see what type of owner feedback arises after they start shipping.

i Agree, you can charge at home is good idea, but cost to own and operate is significantly similar or more.
EVs are higher in price
You need to built infrastructure at home to charge
Your meter may not support multiple EVs, then new service will cost arm and leg
Depending upon your electricity cost it may not save much. To operate my Mach-E it costs $7.21 per 100 mile, but in colder weather I loose 25-30% efficiency

I like instant torque and quietness of engine, but hate gimmicky iPad style controls, give me knob and buttons I will be happy

That's ok. I was in the market for an XLT sport and ended up ordering a Tremor. With all the offroading I do (precisely none) I'm basically buying a $5k appearance package.
