Who supplies the VIN?

Who actually will contact me with the VIN#
My dealer says Ford will but what I have read in several posts here is that he dealer will.
FWIW I don't think my dealer is helpful and/or not being completely truthful.

Timeline.....I realize many have been wating months with no word.
9/02 order placed with dealer.
9/03 order supposedly submitted to Ford by dealer for MY21
10/05 this is the date on a picture of my order with the 4 digit order # on it for MY '22. Should it be 9/03 if that was the date the order was submitted?
10/07 order #supplied to me by dealer after requesting for more than 3 weeks.
10/15 specifically asked dealer who will supply VIN #. Was told Ford will be in contact from now.

Is there anyone in position of authority that can corroborate this? I want to be 100% sure so when I go have a discussion with my dealer.

I got mine from my dealer about a week after I ordered.

I've heard you can contact Ford Performance with your order number and dealer code and they can provide it, but I'm not certain as I had mine before I contacted them.

Got mine from my dealer. I asked the ford performance chat and they said they can’t provide the vin only tell me there is one and to reach out to my dealer to get it

Ultimately the Federal Government "controls" the VINs but the manufacturers "issue" the VINs. Your Dealer should be the 1st to know what your VIN is.

Some Dealers seem to be more in touch than others but as with most things... "the squeaky wheel gets the oil".

Unless you're talking about actual manufacturing.

Then that's up to the amazingly, wonderful people at Ford and God knows... FORD is AWESOME!

Your order sheet contains the order and sales codes. Use that to reach out to Ford Performance Chat to get status. Once Ford Performance Chat tells you that you've been scheduled for a build week, that means that a VIN has been issued. Then ask your dealer for it. Your dealer should provide it to you. Neither PFC nor Ford will provide it to you. If your dealer cannot or will not provide you the VIN after PFC says you have been scheduled for a build week, then you're working with the wrong person. They have visibility to this info in their ordering system.

In my case dealer provided me the VIN.

I have called FP but they did not provided me VIN and directed me to the dealer.

my dealer put the order they received.

suggestion, reach out to another dealer.

The salesman swears up and down Ford will be supplying me the VIN.
He says they will also be forwarding it on to me once they get it.

I mentioned people here, Ford truck and the Ford website state the dealer supplies it.

I guess we'll see.

I did find out why there's almost a five week size difference in dates between when I place the order for the truck and the order was actually confirmed that Ford. He said there was a six-week. We're Ford was not accepting any new truck builds in order to transition from 21 to 22. And my order fell in this dead area so nothing was done by Ford until after October 1st.

They weren't scheduling builds it had nothing to do with submitting orders if it were me I would question this guy's ability and knowledge and moving elsewhere unless the deal was awfully good.

maybe your dealer means ford will be supplying the vin (which is correct)

when your truck gets scheduled to build it will get a vin. That vin will then be passed along to your dealer. Who should give it to you.

To be more specific he said I will be getting two emails with my VIN. One directly from Ford and one from him.
