I've been wanting to do this ambient light project for a while. I finally got around to looking in the footwells and saw that I do have the connector on the driver's side.

I've done a few things in forscan already. I apologize if this has been asked and answered already. So, it's just a matter of plugging the lights into the footwell and changing the settings in forscan? Is it the same for the cup holder? I kept seeing Jumper brought up and was a little confused.

I want to do the cup holder and footwells for now and maybe tackle the rear ambient lights and media bin later. I'll call my local dealer tomorrow and see what they say. They always ask for my vin number when I ask about parts so hopefully when I just say the part number they dont ask for my vin number cause my truck doesn't have the footwell lights.

I just did this. John is a great resource and very helpful.

I went with the 4 ambient footwell lights (2 front, 2 rear), Glove box light, media bine light, and cupholder lights.

There are 2 harnesses with the push to start XLT trucks for these lights.

1 harness gets plugged into the plug for center console light between the driver and passenger. It then runs forward to power the media bin light (if you want to install it), and the glove box light. These lights are always on and not truly ambient lighting. You can't control them at all.

The other harness gets plugged into the passenger side footwell ambient light plug. It runs to the center console where it powers the lighted cupholder. You can then run additional plugs to the underside of the driver and passenger seats for rear ambient lighting. A single light gets plugged into the drivers side footwell. The passenger side light plugs into the harness.

I did have to move the center console and lift it up to right the lights under the carpet to the seat bottoms - only necessary for rear ambient lights.

You then make the changes in forscan and then should work.

Very simple and straightforward. Takes about 45 mins of your time. I recommend it as does everyone else who has done it if you read thru the thread.

I got the cupholder the other day from my dealer. I'm waiting for a few other lights to come in still.

I thought I saw somewhere that there are two different part numbers for the media bin based on the wireless phone charge. I can't find it though, maybe I was reading it wrong. Is this true?

You're correct, it was in the other thread.

Ahhh ok this is the actual media bin, not light. I was a little confused as to why there would be two different lights. I was just going to cut the media bin that I have but might go this route. Thank you jersey

Thanks to @JHForman812 have the first part of the upgrade done - ambient light in footwells.

I have a 2022 XLT PTS and had connectors. John supplied high quality harness and jumper along with excellent support to get me thru a couple of spots. I have the lighted cupholder part and will look to install that over the next week or two.

Do hope there is Karma in the world as John deserves to receive a lot of goodwill given his selflessness in helping others.

Still haven't got around of adding the light cup holder but hope to this weekend. Let me know if u need any information. I have some pictures of my install and would love to pass forward the help John gave me.

I love the look and glad I did it.

Lots of good information in this thread and @JHForman812 provides great support.

The posts I really used were;
#1 for white c212
#85 c2280c location & running wire to c212
#117 c2280c snap apart
#169 red wire into c2280c
#44 passenger light connector
#4 for passenger light clip to felt

For the photos

The jumper won't go in and lay flat by itself. I was a bit stumped at this point but John assure me that by inserting the red holder into the c2280, it would force the end into the position which it did (I removed the red holder to confirm). The other end goes I to the c212 easily.

Hope this helps. Everything worked as John predicted. Really pleased even though I only have the footwells done at this point.
