Wild Update on my Job 1 Platinum Order

I figured I'd make a new post here since I've been following/updating on multiple threads. I received a sort of breakthrough update on my 702a PB Platinum today.
Ordered it on the first day order banks opened, see all detail of timeline in my signature. Suffice to say, I've been waiting as long as you possibly could for a 2024 order.

Today my dealer emailed with this:
"We received information as to the delays being caused. There are thousands of F150s being held, like yours. Some Module Issue, Ford is not giving us specifics. However, a timeline for release is July late in the month." ... JULY!

We are placing a new order, trying to get it with as a high-priority. My dealer said this will come sooner than July (again, placed my initial order in mid-September, and went into production in mid January).

This being my first experience with Ford, I can't say it has been anything other than frustrating to infuriating. I really hope I get a chance to recap this directly to them at some point. What an absolute joke of a roll-out to a MID-CYCLE REFRESH! I can't imagine how bad this would be if it was a full re-design.

not saying your ordeal is a PITA or a giant headache...b/c Ford is to blame for most of this but this all stems back to mid 2022. 21's came they way they were advertised. then shortly after 22's came out, deletions started due to modules/chip shortages. 23's were essentially neutered and then Ford made these huge promises for 24's.

not that it matters but i essentially wasnt able to get my dream truck b/c i refused to pay more for a platinum build with its options deleted. i could have waited but when the wife says yes you dont wanna her to change her mind haha

so i get it, it sucks. ford should have had their shit together before promising customers these trucks

Yeah, I understand it's the ultimate "first world problem". I'll still get a great truck eventually (the reason I waited for a 24 was to avoid all of the deletions in the 23s, so I really hope I don't get hit with those now).

I mostly think people should be aware of how poorly managed this has been, and Ford should at some point have to answer for their mistakes. Hopefully this helps people whose dealers are not checking on things. Anyone who truly needs a truck before July, should be looking elsewhere or at in-stock vehicles.

I doubt it's a Powerboost issue since there have already been deliveries of Powerboosts in lower trims. There have also been confirmed shipments of King Ranches and Platinums that were built in late February and early March, so I would assume there was a major issue with higher trims in those very first batches off of the line in Job 1. It would appear those issues are fixed now since all of the higher trims are slowly showing up on lots.

I feel your frustration. My 22 Platinum went relatively ok even with a 3 month chip hold compared to my First Edition Bronco. Pretty sure you’ll think it was all worth it once you sit in the driver’s seat.

If this is true then Ford will flood the market with 2024 starting in August. They will have the late Job 1 and Job 2 trucks on lots already when this tsunami of abandoned retail orders start showing up (perhaps unwanted) at Dealer lots (let's face it most will give up on these, buy off a lot, place another order like you or get something else). Thus, I wouldn't put an order in now. They will be selling at deep discounts this Fall

It was listed in the tracker as in production (not sure anything that tracker says means anything), but the dealer confirmed it was built for well over a month - just waiting on this thing to be fixed.

This seems like Deja Vu, when historically new model year autos roll out, Aug\Sept\October...

Not to take away from OP or anyone else buying a 2024, but whats the attraction\motivation? The first release trucks are going to be missing the biggest visual and operational change in the line-up and thats the new tailgate. Talk about "deletes"! Why not just get a new 2023 collecting dust and throw some massage seats in and call it done.

I would be very wary of being the recipient of the new F150, Ford has proudly removed 2,300 parts from. This just sounds very 'experimental' to me.

The 2,300 parts line is very misleading. There are 2,300 parts fewer in the F-150 lineup, mostly because of the consolidation of options. The engines are the same. The suspensions are the same. There is very little actually different but aesthetic, save for the lighting, which is apparently where the famed QC issue has arisen.

I get it... all Im saying is the 2024 is the 'reduced' version of the 2023 truck and if half the argument is to 'get a complete, no delete truck', I would think the missing new tailgate would be a huge thing to be 'deleted'. Most Plat deleted items, can be redone, MCS, HSW, Park Assist, etc. But if you aint getting the new tailgate... I cant even imagine what that would be aftermarket...

At this point, I'm looking into just waiting for a 2025 MY truck and hopefully Ford updates Sync 4 to the Digital Experience infotainment system.

I feel your pain. I waited 11 months after order to delivery of my 22KR and I did ended up with a few deletes from my original order. All in all I am happy with my truck.
I don't place all the blame on Fords shoulders for these delays. I'm a business owner and to be honest not only has the supply chain gone to shit since covid, so has the quality of many items needed for production. I have been fighting quality issues of packaging film for four years now and no end in sight. Subpar products being shipped out and manufacturers don't really seem to care.

I ordered a ‘22 Platinum in late ‘21. Got built in February and then just sat. Was going to be part of the deletion mess. Happen to find a dealer in another state that got a March build ‘22 with no deletions. Wasn’t a special order. We made a deal in May ‘22. Just had to go with a different color.
