Mine does as well...I think th truck looks at the humidity and if high enough, uses the AC to dry the incoming air. It should not turn on if you have the auto temp off.

It still comes on at start up with auto temp off if the truck determines the ambient temp high enough. I don't like the AC on at all when its below ~80 degrees and always have to manually turn it off at start up when the auto is off and the temp gauge is on LO

It’s setup on startup to remember your last settings, it’s in your settings.

Please show me where this is located in settings. There is an option under Remote Start settings, but not HVAC normal startup settings. Even with auto temp off, the truck automatically turns AC on if it's hot enough outside/inside the vehicle. Trust me, I've tried to disable this.

Ok, I remembered during setting it up it asked that question. I’m in my office right now but give me some time and I’ll let you know

Ok, go to your “Remote Start setup” then “Climate Control Last Settings” and voilà

That's for REMOTE START, it does not affect a normal start using the push button. If you switch off auto temp, turn temp control to LO, turn off AC, then restart the truck, it'll start with AC on if it's hot outside. Most of the time. Sometimes I start it and it's off. Just like everything else with the truck and all its electronics - mind of their own most of the time.

Given the number of computers in the dash and the fact that the ducts are in there and cool inside the dash down quickly, I think the truck is trying to keep its sensitive electronics cool. Heat is the electronics lifetime enemy. Storage temp is usually 15-20c higher than operating temp. Operating as it should IMO.

Soldiers appreciate the abrams battle tank's AC system, fact is it's not for them, it's for the computers.

The PB has an electric AC compressor so turning off the AC won’t have an impact on mpg.

There are no free lunches -- except for heat. That's a mostly free byproduct. The AC is more efficient than idling, but it's not powered with free energy.

Years later and this is still an issue. I am immediately frustrated by the nanny state of this truck. Has anyone had luck figuring out how to stop having to use a pre flight checklist to turn off all the annoyances they have forced into this computer?
