Why are parts so hard to get?

My 2021 F150 King Ranch was T-Boned by a lady who ran a red light, hitting me at the drivers side front wheel. The wheel was pretty much laying in the street and everything behind it damaged, to a tune of just over $20,000. That was in January 2022. Although the dealer is doing everything they can, parts are just too hard to get and there's no ETA when it will be fixed. I understand the chip shortage but I don't need any chips. So why is there a shortage of other parts?

It's the perfect storm for someone in your unfortunate scenario.
Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.

You could never have predicted this 3 years ago. And if you did you'd be laughed at and called all kinds of things.

Son has a blown Hyundai motor, locked up at 66k...been out over a onth now. Dealer said if a new longblock is approved, maybe 2 more months.

Even Toyota isn't immune from brand new vehicles with less than 1000 miles going into the shop and sitting for weeks and weeks waiting on parts.

Every brand seems to have threads with customers who say that they will never buy xxx again.

Our gorvernment sold us out and sent all of our manufacturing jobs overseas and to other countries.IMO our Politicians are to blame. They sold us out for their own profiteering. Just my opinion..................

Supply chain issues, labor shortages…

blah blah blah.

lot of the work force took their experience and just quit working 2-3 years ago and there’s no one willing to replace them or even close to their experience.

I know one factory where they permanently lost 60% of their experience of 20+ years. Ripple effect from that goes right from the sun components they manufacture right to the end product for the vehicle manufacturer they sell to.

Multiply that by 20-50 vendors…

it’s ugly.

No manufacture is immune from this supply issue. My wife's 2016 Volvo needs rear coil springs. Possibly will be available this month, have been on backorder for the past couple of months. We will see.

Walmart shelves are bare currently of some mainstream motor oil. One example is Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W30. Especially in the 5qt size.

Supply Chain.

The oil manufacturer of the oil itself can't acquire the plastic containers to pour it in.

It's crazy out there. Lol
